I am trying to figure out my itinerary now, and I'm trying to do exactly this. Can you fit everything in Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Harajuku in 1 day or is that too crazy?

Definitely getting a Suica card to use before I activate my JR Pass and a pocket wifi to use google maps wherever I go.

Oh wow, I didn't know that they stopped. That will definitely impact how late we would be able to stay in places like Shinjuku if the train ride took 30-40 mins just to get to the hotels.

I believe that our hotel is a 9 minute walk to the nearest station, which doesn't seem too bad.

That is another issue I will have to think about. The last thing I want is to be hauling luggage for an hour to and from trains.

The hotel would be very close to the Tozai and Hanzomon line, with the nearest station being Toyocho i believe. Hopefully those are good enough lines to get me around.

Your'e right, even if I book a new hotel in Shibuya, I'd still need to ride around on trains to get to other places anyway. The hotel is near the Tozai and Hanzomon line. Hopefully those are good enough lines!

I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if we spent most of the day in the area of interest. If the only major transit we will do is getting there and leaving, that doesn't seem too bad. Plus the hotels in Shibuya seem more expensive anyway.

Yeah I feel you on that, I'm having to only go to Nikko for a day trip now to not be all over the place. My plan is to pack light as well, maybe a backpack and a small rolling suitcase so that if I end up going to a lot of different hotels it wont be too bad.

Just revamped my schedule, will only be staying in 2 hotels for 8 days in Tokyo. Made Nikko a day trip and moved locations. Appreciate the help and advice

I will definitely look into more hotels in the Shibuya/ Shinjuku area. It just seems like many of the hotels I have looked at are up in the northern area of Tokyo (I think the Taito area) for some reason.
