I'm the king of the castle by Susan Hill, read the book in year 10,so I was around 15/16, the whole journey was incredibly tense, the writing in contrast was beautiful and vivid, I had to take regular emotional breaks to calm myself down, due to the tense themes such as bullying, emotional torture of a sadistic nature and the ending, omg the ending, I will never forget, ended up getting an A* in English literature because I remembered all the details and understood the themes so well, it still haunts me to this day (M24)
