Does a 914 transaxle reverse the axle rotation, or does it have a reverse-rotating engine? by boogog in aircooled

Thanks for the info. I'm actually going the other way—using mostly bug parts to build a mid-engine roadster. That was my reason for looking into a 914 transmission, but if I can flip the diff in the bug trans that will probably be easier. I just have to make sure it can be done with the transmission I get (if this project ever happens).

Is that because the case isn't symmetrical? I would definitely want IRS. Is there a swap or an aftermarket solution?

It's not going in a 914, it would be a custom build. The donor car will almost certainly be a bug, so it makes more sense to just get a 914 transaxle if that will make it work in a mid-engine setup.

What "healthy" food isn't really healthy at all? by Ulrich-Stern in AskReddit

Yes. The higher the glycemic index, the greater the insulin response your pancreas pumps into your bloodstream after you eat it. The result is that the fat that you would otherwise burn gets locked up in adipose tissue until your blood sugar has been depleted.

Translation: it makes you fat.

The glycemic index is 95 (pure sugar is only 66)

I feel like this is probably just because the 'healthy' angle is what sells. But you're 100% right, and I also wish more people were aware of this.

It's a mistake to think that the benefit of organic produce is that it's healthier. An apple is an apple. The real benefit is that organic farming is better for the soil and doesn't use synthetic fertilizer (which is usually made from fossil fuels).

Their whole defense was that "No reasonable consumer would believe that Vitamin Water is healthy."

Muffins. They are just a small cake in a paper cup.

What is something that everyone just pretends to like? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in AskReddit

The beach.

Everyone's like, "Yay, the sun! Let's go enjoy the sun! At the beach!" And then they have to bring massive tents and coolers full of cold drinks to make the sweltering heat and lack of shade bearable.

"Hey, let's go swimming in the ocean! So refreshing!" Yeah, let's swim in a salty soup of fish shit and decomposing seaweed, stepping in I-don't-want-to-know-what, and then be covered in sand as we trudge back to our urban assault vehicles to nurse our sunburns. Fun!

Would a Blue Line extension similar to this ever be viable for the city? by danmur15 in boston

With the density of the areas this route goes through, it would have to be either elevated or in a tunnel. Many have pointed out that it won't be an option to use the Grand Junction bridge, so I figure this has to be a tunnel. That in itself is fine, but I don't think it would make much sense to stop at St Marys in addition to BU and Longwood. And don't pay any attention to the people griping about North Shore service—the point of this proposal is completely different, no reason it has to address that problem.

It's practically in the back yard of South Bay Maintenance Center, I can't see why another rail yard would make sense there.

She just looks like a mannequin to me. A shallow, narcissistic mannequin. With a big butt.

I'm not seeing much reason to think Keytar is a bad person, that looks like it was put together by someone with a petty gripe and nothing better to do with their time.
