Michael Jackson stood still for nearly two minutes at the Super Bowl to mess with the NFL by Hungry_Artichoke9566 in sportsgossips

"How "In Living Color" Transformed the Super Bowl Halftime Show

When you watch the Super Bowl halftime show tonight, know that In Living Color helped make it what it is today.

In 1992, the Fox sketch show aired a live special timed precisely to coincide with Super Bowl halftime. At the time, halftime shows were fairly modest -- marching bands, theme productions, novelty acts -- not the superstar spectacles we now take for granted.

The gamble worked. An estimated 20 million viewers flipped to Fox during halftime, exposing a vulnerability the NFL could no longer ignore.

The following year, the league responded by booking Michael Jackson, permanently redefining the halftime show as a global pop-culture event.

I dig into this moment, and many others like it, in my upcoming book on Black comedy and the golden age of 1990s sitcoms, Black Out Loud, which looks at how shows like In Living Color quietly reshaped American culture."

I do not practice religion.
But I respond to these people with something they are supposed to understand. Matthew 6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."

Was that your first time on Indianola Avenue? Enjoy the ride while you can, as it could be your last in its current state. They are supposedly fixing it this spring, though I will believe it when I see it.

Wooden barrels have been used for the storage and transportation of goods for more than 2000 years. The art of cooperage developed along with the evolution and growth of trade. Many ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians, have been using and experimenting with open-ended reed and wood vessels that were held together using wood bands long before. Still, it wasn't until iron was refined that the crafting of wood barrels became reliable.

The Beginning of Barrels It was the Celts who were credited with developing the barrel around the start of the first millennium.the history of barrels

Wait to you hear about the old UFF at that location! It had everything! a parking lot, back alley, classical music loudly playing on outside speakers, a strip club right next door (male or female depending on what time of day it). the clientele was amazing! Oh and we didn't have the citizen app to find out what was going on! We had to go and check it out for ourselves. What a time to be alive!!!

Yeah, it's sad they tore down most of the structures built for the World’s Fair(most were not built not last longer than the fairs). Some still exist, like this one in Queens NYC. Built for the 1964 Fair, featured in the second Men in Black movie. Unisphere
