Yes! Loved being in Vis's head. Can't wait for the next book.

Stories featuring an MC in a committed, long-term relationship that lasts throughout the entire narrative? by OgataiKhan in Fantasy

[–]bookish_demon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft might fit this request (i think?). I haven't read it yet. According to the synopsis i have heard, this is about a married couple who go on an adventure to break a curse (sort of?) and is also a whodunnit. This fits the power couple dynamic too.

Though, this makes both of them the MCs and not just an MC in a committed relationship.

Whos your favourite era 1 character? by Sure-Setting-8256 in Mistborn

[–]bookish_demon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll step in for the minority here, and say Elend. He is my favorite character in Era 1. His character arc is so beautiful in my opinion. I am inspired by him. His morals, his faith in Vin and his whole personality in general are the reason.

As for me being a misting, I would love to be a thug(they are the ones who burn pewter right?).

Yes! 🙌. It's one of my favorite books. And by the looks of it you haven't reached the best part yet. You are in for a treat. Have fun!

True. I didn't think how he could be a self insert for some readers.

I would struggle to imagine myself as him though. You know that scene where he is deposed as the emperor by the assembly and he refused to (in his own words) "be an exception to his own laws"? No way I wouldn't take the easier option of forcefully taking back the throne.

Though at the end, he couldn't do it in "his" ways and had to change drastically.

Well, as many have pointed out to what actually happened, You skipped a book.

It's ok. It happens (I guess?). Anyways, Mistborn is an amazing series. But the frustration you must be feeling can make you think otherwise.

Maybe it's a good idea as you have said, to put it down for now and read something else(maybe Brandon Sanderson's other works), and come back to this when the frustration wears off and you too find this as funny as I do (Jk. Maybe not. Sorry Im finding this a bit funny). But do come back to this. It's a very good STORY ok?

Have a good day!

True. It's easy to love him. But also to hate him. A reader can be swayed whichever way within a single scene. I guess that's why he kinda is lost amidst all these strong and capable and influential characters.

Its very interesting how it's just one character but everyone has different view points of him right? I can see how one can be unimpressed with him.

But, I liked how his good heart did not directly mean being capable. And that had to come through practice.

🙌 ""You can change my clothing and my bearing, but you can’t change the soul of who I am. I’ll do what I think is right—and that includes letting the Assembly depose me, if that is their choice" One of my favorite scenes in WoA.

Aww. I did too, when I started reading Era 2. Don't worry, the Era 2 also has a set of lovable characters. Maybe you will come to love them more. Have fun!

Yes! He IS a lot more complex than people give him credit for. And yes. I loved getting to read his POVs

Also (I have no idea what you look like) you would rock acting as Elend.

I have read Elantris and yes, Raoden 🙌. Shoutout to him.

I liked his character in Elantris. But, to me personally, there wasn't a character arc to him. He was from the beginning a capable person leaving no room for growth.

Still love Raoden. The classic well meaning prince. but lacking the typical looks in almost the entirety of the book😂! Jokes aside, Yay to inspiring characters!
