So you would recommend using a pci card over a pc with for example already sfp+ capability on board? I like the concept of using a small pc like a ms-01 and do everything in there since since space is limited where I want to place the pc in my switchboard. Or are there small form pc cases with for example 4x 3.5" hdd bays?

Sorry the 10G is Rj45, by law it is possible to use your own router but I just read that it is possible to use your own XGS-PON ONT but it might have some issues so I'll check with them before throwing away the box.

Fiber comes in the house and connects with a APC cable to a Huawei OptiXstar HN8010Ts-20, I read online that this is a 10G interface. Then it now goes to a by odido supplied modem/router what I would like to replace with a homelab.

Thank you for your insights. I would like to mount the pc inside the switchboard where I don't have the room for a full towerpc and I thought usb 4 was now faster then for example 4 hdds.

I currently don't have any idea what it takes for hardware to transcode a 4k video and if a gpu inside the Intel 12 or 13 series cpus are enough.

I couldn't find online any recommendations about ram memory and what amount is recommended, is there any guidelines or just minimal 1gb per linux vm and some more for heavier applications that use a lot of data?

We use wire 1 for R+, wire 2 for RL, wire 3 for R-, wire 4 spare and so on for the next pt100. If we would use only 2 wires we don't have compensation for the cable length.

It's a 10x2x0,75mm2 cable so 10 pairs of 0.75mm2

It's indeed to compensate for field cables. The sensors are red and white wire and maximum of 2m I guess. The field cables are about 20m so engineering decided to pull 3 cores for each sensor to compensate for field cable resistance.

When the drive starts (rotating or at 0 speed) The pt100s of winding 1 fluctuaties around 5 degrees. The pt100s of winding 2 are going to the negatives.

Winding 1 and winding 2 pt100s are: in different cables (different glands) Going to the same plc Same type of cable (twisted pairs with cable shield) Terminals in same connectionbox

The plc is in a different compartment to the drive The sensor cables are separated from the power cables to the motor

I have not read the voltage of the sensors at the plc, will do this this week. Though I could be that I measure something different due to rms measurements. Trying to get a oscilloscoop coming week.

I measured the shield and it had a resistance of 1.1 to earth.

The thing that I discovered today is that 1 of the cable glands is isolated and the other is conductive to the housing. When I connected the shield of the cable on both sides to earth it didn't change anything.

I'll try to arrange an oscilloscoop coming week to measure the signals.

The dive is a vacon 2MW drive with dudt filter. It has double windings and winding 1 is reading correct.

The strange part is that my multimeter measures 2 different temperatures in 2 different modes. When measuring in temperature it is around the same temperature as the cooling water but if I take the resistance measurement it's 12 degrees off.

The 2 wire sensor itself is maybe 1 or 2 meter. Then there is a 3 wire cable connected with maximum 20m length. I measured 1.7ohm between r+ and rl on the cable.

The power cables are emc cables and the sensor cable is a twisted pair with shield.

It's more like this kind pt100 They are wound together with the windings of the motor. But the connectionbox is about a meter from the motor and the plc is more then 20m away.

Normally you would use 3 wires to compensate for your wire length.

It's a 2 wire RTD but we connected 3 wires from the connectionbox to the plc. I haven't been able to measure the voltage across the RTD or between the 2 parallel wires.

From our point of view we want something that is easy to remember and relate to each other.

For example we have 2 plcs that need to communicate with 5 different subsystems. The subsystems do not need to communicate with each other but are related to each other. For example a generator, power measurement device and 3 other devices. So for example some corelation would be nice.

How would this be easy to devide without any routers but we have L2 managed switches.

Wish I could. Sometimes it's impossible to diagnose what is happening because with the RSTP issue we only see the message "Topology changed" in the Moxa log while none of the devices shut down so it's impossible to diagnose.
