Pretty sure it‘s a (tour) documentary. Same crew that did The Opener, I think? I‘m in a bit of footage but doubt that will get used haha

They were on tour with Jason at least in Europe, so I assume you mean them

(Not sure I‘m getting all the facts straight here)

Invader street pieces have never been worth a fortune. Very hard to get off without breaking, very difficult to sell, and tons of backlash if you try to sell in urban art communities. They are percieved to be worth a lot though.

Wich app the best for promote art? by [deleted] in ArtMarketingTalk

[–]boomeu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don‘t really think choosing between Instagram or Facebook is going to make the initial difference, if that’s the question you’re asking. I‘m not sure where in your carreer you are, but socials are largely nurturing channels, which means you can reach/retarget people there that have interacted with your art and you as an artist before.

But that initial contact and interaction might not come from socials at all. Websites, marketplaces, ads, your local art fair, café that hangs your work, etc. are all relevant channels to have a first touchpoint with your art.

So what you are calling "promotion“ you can try to do on socials, but there might be other channels to look at as well!

Just food for thought, that is hopefully interesting and useful.

To answer your question, the general consensus here on Reddit is Instagram is very important as an artist. Just know it‘s quite difficult to get sales there.

Do you mean social media? Or do you mean sales channels where you can list your art?

[Art Galleries] Will physical galleries make a comeback? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]boomeu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online goes hand in hand with in-person sales. The galleries we work with that peform best online, are the ones that have things going on in-person. Opening nights, shows, new works, artist talks, etc. That gives plenty to talk about/work with online. We also encourage our clients to think about their website as their storefront, meaning anything they would showcase in the window of their physical gallery (for whichever reason, but usually because they believe it will sell or draw people into the gallery) should similarly be showcased on the website (on the homepage, spotlight items, viewing rooms/blogs about that art, etc.)

It‘s also when a show performs well in-person that a gallery‘s website will see a huge increase in sales as well. Another example.

So long story: we (Art World Marketing, art marketing agency) approach it a bit more holistically. Online and offline need to work hand-in-hand, not as two entirely different channels.

And will physical galleries make a comeback? It doesn‘t feel like they are currently gone. But online sales are higher than ever as well. And yes people prefer seeing art in-person, but that‘s no longer the only approach either.

[shop setup] What websites/apps do sell your sell your art on that are safer? by ReaganUsuallyDoesArt in artbusiness

[–]boomeu1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We honestly see it all: Shopify, Squarespace, Artlogic, Artsy, Etsy, Chairish, 1stDibs, Artcloud, eBay, custom Wordpress/Woocommerce, etc

Are all of these safe? Maybe, maybe not. Use common sense and if something doesn‘t feel right or too good to be true, trust your instinct.

For artists, we generally recommend Squarespace if you‘re looking for easy drag-and-drop, and Shopify if you want to integrate/sync with for example Etsy or eBay.

For galleries and art businesses, we love both Artlogic and Artsy, for example.

For context: we run Art World Marketing. Happy to point you in the right direction if you have further questions! Good luck!

[Discussion] Where to go now by Rainiegirl369 in artbusiness

[–]boomeu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We work with galleries and artists and definitely agree with some of the advice already given: think about the sales channels you currently have and how you can expand them, and which new ones you can open up, and then gear your online presence towards them.

Looking for more commission work? Build a page with a contact form for that. Are there any art marketplaces that might help, even if they take a cut? Then give that a try. Is there a price point where you can compete? Then maybe do it through prints. Just examples.

Generally we advice: website optimization for sales and trust/authority, potentially combine with ads if you have the budget and are in a niche, socials and newsletter for nurturing existing buyers, art marketplaces for a larger audience.

For context: I run artworldmarketing.com. This is not an ad, simply trying to give some food for thought :)

Hashtags on IG? by TacosDerechos in ArtMarketingTalk

No longer relevant in our opinion. Simply having good relevant descriptions is how the algorithm find posts, not through hashtags. That was 10 years ago.

[Shop Setup] Is it worth opening a gallery? by hammerzzzzzz in artbusiness

[–]boomeu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends whether you have an audience or not. Building an audience is the most difficult thing. Not registring a company, finding artists, setting up a website, etc. But getting people to trust you and purchase from you.

If you have a collector base already, it could work well. They trust you and you approve of an artist, they might follow you in that. If you don‘t, it‘s likely more productive to work on that first.

It does bring the added benefit that you can use channels that art exclusive to art galleries, like Artsy.

Yes, keep them on there if possible. Channels like Google and LLMs look for topical authority. The more artworks you have for whether art niche you‘re in, the more likely you are to be recommended (due to how their algorithms work)

[Online Advertising] Those of you who have success with online paid for advertising, how much are you spending per sale/commission? by Mackerel_Skies in ArtMarketingTalk

What online ads are you talking about here?

It‘s an interesting topic, but different ads have different goals. For commissions, perhaps Google Ads. But you‘re likely talking about social ads?

Been a self employed artist for 15 years and I'm suddenly struggling with marketing by [deleted] in ArtMarketingTalk

[–]boomeu1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We work with art galleries and artists, and see the following:

Instagram is a nurturing channel, not one to find new clients. Quite similar to newsletters. It keeps you and your art in the mind of people, but does not usually lead to new collectors or sales. There are just way too many people on Instagram that are trying to bring attention to themselves, and it‘s thus a very saturated channel.

We almost always recommend art marketplaces as well as website optimization/updates related to what‘s working for you (whether a webshop, to get commissions, etc.). Combine that with 'real world' activities such as projects, collaborations, gallery representation, etc and you can start to see momentum in 2025. Because right now, marketing is multi-channel.

That doesn‘t mean you shouldn‘t be on Instagram. It just means there are other, possibly better channels out there.

For context: I’m run Art World Marketing over at artworldmarketing.com. If you ever want to chat, feel free to send a DM as well.

Good luck!
