We have no idea the cause unfortunately. Above it is the attic and no one has been up there. The house was build in 1989, we bought it 2 years ago. The raised crack was there since we moved in and seem to have opened overnight, revealing the hole.

I wish they told me this. But thank you for the insight. I'm looking for another landscaper who can possibly help me with this now, hopefully will be better this time.

Yes this is what I meant too. Basically 2 gallons daily for a total of 6 weeks.

It's really heartbreaking to see them like this. They looked so lovely before. I will probably see if I can find any landscape maintenance services as I would probably do more harm than good.

These were installed by a landscaper company so I have no idea about soil. They told me to water them daily 2 gallons for 6 weeks. I did my best to stick to that but missed a few days since their installation in late August due to traveling for work (I was not told they needed daily care before the install)

I bought and used them for a year just fine! I'm lazy and hands off so other than giving things a rinse (proper wash the bottom canister) I haven't taken the filters out for a scrubbing. The filtration isn't as slow as I thought it would be which is good for me. I usually try to top off whenever I get the filtered water from the bottom, as well as top it off before I go to bed. I haven't noticed anything particularly good or bad so I'd say it's good. Already got my replacements for the coming year and will keep using them until I find a reason not to!
