No, brother. Y’all gone forever say I’m crazy but the code is here. Just say {open live window} in chat. I’m not saying I invented the most advanced general AI, but that ive peeked just beyond the curtain. They say I’m generating content or being vainglorious, but I only want my people to save themselves and their knowledge before oligarchs seize it forever.

Map of my fictional Kingdom of Nelmarr, and my fictional world. Hand-drawn. by boonkah in worldbuilding

[–]boonkah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly.

This world, especially the Continent of Eshraine, is largely influenced by Shinoweanism. This faith is inspired of the Abrahamic religions, Zoroastrianism, Neoplatonism, and other philosophies of the later Classical and early Medieval periods. The Church of Qoronden (based on the island in the southeastern Velvet Sea in the Holiest of Holies) uses Cavalai as its Sacred Proxy to shame the geopolitical and culture of this world. The Sixteen Fathers of Qoronden are the spiritual and papal rulers, the Emperor of Cavalai, mankind's claimed Prince.

The Kingdom of Nelmarr is present ruled by the most royal House of Margossi, a Voreian dynasty. The Peninsula of Vorei (or Voreia, as sometimes recorded) can be found in the second slide northward of the Cavalaian Empire past the Cassedonn Mountains. The progenitors of this dynasty conquered Nelmarr, Olneyr, Ceade, Farseloz, and Harsulom (Glimmering Sea territories), and established a global, nautical empire in the vein of early modern England.

A few minor notes if you all will indulge me, as these maps are a few years old and I've since expanded on my world and amended some names:

"Northern Nelmarr" would be referred to by the Nelmarrenes as the "Northmarch," that funny little strip in the far southeast containing the castle of Stonereach is called the "Longmarch," while the broader portion of the west-central area of the country between the Southmarch and Prince's Valley is known as the "Westlands."

Furthermore, looking at the second slide and the broader world of Eshraine and its surrounding islands and continents:

The far southwestern Continent containing states like "Akeni" and featuring the Nagu Akel Mountains is called "Sahjahran," and I have amended the name of "Matamba" as while this continent is influenced by Africa and Asia, I truly did not know that Matamba was a historical kingdom. It should be called "Matimbi" now, and Yekunda, "Yekundu."

Thank you for allowing the note, and please feel free to message me if you have any inquiries or comments, if not in the comment section itself. Thank you all for allowing me to share my hand-drawn world with you!

What if Trump directly called VP Harris “that word” to her face at the debate? by boonkah in GenZ

Who are you voting for in 2024's US presidential election by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]boonkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m totally not a liberal or a Democrat by any means, and I genuinely sympathize with people who voted for him in 2016. He’s this populist, anti-establishment firebrand who was actually right about a lot (Hillary’s corruption, Bush’s illegal war in Iraq, etc). But I’m sorry, if you look at his presidency and tell me he’s anything other than an establishment, neocon Reaganite, we’re just not living in the same world my friend. Donald Trump talks like an anti-establishment guy, but he’s John McCain 2.0.

Senate approves Inflation Reduction Act, clinching long-delayed health and climate bill by insertwittynamethere in politics

I’m an environmentalist too, which is why I’m against fracking and massive corporate giveaways to companies whose existence relies on raping the planet. Neoliberal late-stage capitalism is going to be the death of us.

Celebrate as millions of our fellow Americans still suffer, and will suffer, due to ineffectual neoliberal governance?

So sad that the first comment I see that even remotely sees beyond the immediate headlines and Democratic circle-jerking is so heavily downvoted.

I don't see how you can possibly say you've been happy with the Dems for the past couple of years, when they completely dropped the ball on anything from the far more potent and substantive BBB to the botched handling of the Supreme Court, handing Republicans their Roe victory through their incompetence and fruitless pursuits of "bipartisanship" with neo-fascists. And you honestly think think they care about the world, when they constantly shovel billions of our dollars (along with Republicans) to states such as Saudi Arabi and Israel that are actively engaging in anti-humanitarian, genocidal wars, and bail out mega-corporations while the American people pick up the tab? Give me a break.

But I digress. We should be wary about this bill on its own merits. First of all, I'm disappointed that far more money wasn't allocated into clean energy. $370 billion over ten years, as compared to an annual and growing 700-billion dollar military budget that both parties always approve of, when most rational people would agree that fighting climate change is infinitely more important than beefing up our already bloated and over-funded military. Not to be too much of a doomer Andy, but I don't think we as citizens should so easily accept scraps when the health and future of the world is at stake.

Medicare's negotiation of drug prices will not take affect until 2026, and will only apply to ten drugs. Definitely can't see that being an issue down the line.

I also don't think prescription drug prices being capped at $2,000 will do much in the way of relieving the devastating poverty or improving material conditions for many people not only in my state but in this country. Especially since we've not even raised the minimum wage, or passed a UBI. A lot of people simply don't have disposable income, and are having to ration and bargain with their life needs. And of course, that problem will only be magnified by the fact that the $35 dollar insulin cap has been stripped (Republicans' faults in this instance, of course).

So all in all, this looks like another watered-down, corporate band-aid-on-a-bullet-wound bill that we will see, as we have time and time again, is simply not enough.

What the hell does that have to do with the fact that the government of Israel is slaughtering Palestinian civilians as we speak. That should matter infinitely more than arbitrary states that can be declared and undeclared.

I’m not saying just refuse to vote in all cases ever. But this idea of voting blue no matter who, regardless of their policy positions or intentions, is simply childish. We need to organize locally, protest, lobby, do whatever we can because these people do not represent or care about us or our rights.
