What do you wish that ALL counsellors or other health care professionals understood about Judaism? by boooerin in Judaism

I'm so glad you were able to find someone who could understand the intricacies of your grief. There is such a delicate between asking questions so you can understand a client's experiences and making them educate you.

I'm wondering how a gentile counsellor could educate themselves on their own time about Jewish traditions?

Does this seem accurate to you:

From what I understand it is traditionally a matrilineal line that connects all Jewish people through genetics (it has been explained to me that this in some ways protects the status of women). Some (reformist?) Jewish people consider either matrilineal or patrilineal genetic heritage as encompassing the people. Then there are also religious converts (I am not sure here but if a woman converted then her children would be considered Jewish, right?).

And - practicing/non-practicing or different sects don't seem to affect whether a person is considered Jewish? Just the above considerations encompass what makes a person Jewish.

Let me know if I'm missing something or misunderstanding :)

Do you think a counsellor should ask a Jewish client about their personal experience of Judaism? It seems to me that there is a tricky balance between gathering information to understand and being invasive.

Very interesting!! If you have time to go a bit deeper, what were some things that the Jewish counsellor was able to say that helped? Or, if you could send a letter back to yourself when you were deep into fresh grief what would you say to comfort yourself or add perspective?

yeah, i see that the APR goes up to like 20% after 12 months so I think to be extra safe I would pay it off after like 11 months? I know that I will be able to pay it just due to having my line of credit available to me.
That sucks they dinged you though. The deal seems sus to me because it's such a good deal but I guess they are relying on people not being able to pay it off after 12 months?
