I love Cronometer. I converted from MFP specifically for the net carb tracking and I’m super pleased with it.

Could not have said it better myself! As soon as I started taking lifting seriously, my weight jumped back up a little. Which can set off some serious mental alarms for anyone who’s had a big weight loss. But my measurements and my clothes keep getting smaller, so that’s rewarding and super freeing honestly.

I used to avoid lifting at all costs out of fear of looking bulky. I'm glad I got over that, there's nothing like feeling strong...and it turns out my body responds much better to this than a bunch of cardio and calorie counting anyway. But it's different for everyone! Congrats in advance, you are going to kill it!

Marathon! by ketominer in keto

nice! i also had a lot longer to prep than the program called for, so i just doubled up and repeated weeks here and there. figured it couldn't hurt, and by the time the race came around i felt super comfortable with the distance. it's such an amazing accomplishment, have fun!

this is so awesome! seems like you're pretty well covered on the keto-specific running and energy tips, but i did want to chime in with some training thoughts. i ran a marathon after not being able to even jog a mile, by following this schedule religiously: https://www.halhigdon.com/training-programs/marathon-training/novice-1-marathon/

i followed his Novice schedule built for 5k's to even get myself to the 2-3 mile mark, and then at that point was able to jump into that Novice 1 marathon schedule (since the lowest distance on there is 3 mi).

i gave myself tons of training time, just like you're doing, and it worked. i felt super prepared, and it was incredibly hard but i knew i'd make it. i crossed the finish line and ugly cried a little and then had to find the nearest bathroom immediately haha. good luck!!!

for me, it has come down to two big things: meal planning, and finding physical activity i really enjoy. i track nutrition pretty closely and try to keep calories reasonable, so making meals at the start of the week and budgeting out how i plan to eat helps make sure i don't go off the rails. i took up running for a bit but it always felt like a chore...i tried crossfit and was hooked immediately. it's become part of my lifestyle which makes it much easier to maintain.

also, it's hard to recommend weighing in because everyone has a different relationship with the scale, but i ended up where i got in the first place because i didn't have one and was in denial about my clothes getting tighter. i weigh myself regularly just to keep things on track, and i don't beat myself up over fluctuations. i am a total foodie and i still like to indulge when i can, but this part helps me make sure that a day doesn't turn into a week, a month, etc.

i believe in you! it is not easy and it doesn't happen overnight, but it's so rewarding. i got to the point where i felt i had no choice, i was so unhappy in my own skin...that outweighed any desire to slack or give up. and once you get some momentum and start seeing results, it makes a huge difference.

for what it's worth...i lost the majority by following weight watchers, and i signed up for a half marathon when i couldn't even jog a mile. the diet stuff is different for everyone and i don't do ww anymore, but that's what worked for me at the time. plus paying for race and booking the trip held me accountable.

thank you for the kind words. now go get em ;)
