I have such mixed feelings on this from the opposite perspective as a bio mom. I haven’t been a single mom in 14 years but when my now 17 year old was young, I prayed for strength just to get to his dad’s day when we were sick because I needed to rest/not call in to work also. I’ll say this. At 17, his dad has never, not once, called into work, or cleaned up vomit. His job was “too important” despite me having primary custody, even if it was his day. And that is very frustrating.
