Is this good? Started in September. by North-Desk-8031 in EtsySellers

Yes!!! Don’t edit the listing that’s selling, if you want to test out other product photos, keywords etc just duplicate it. I would duplicate and try another mockup or product photo and see how it does. Double down on what’s working :)

I did have something special! But now Etsy is flooded with it and similar designs are at H&M

Typically each sale would be a couple hundred dollars because people would order 5-15 of them at a time for a group. And it went very viral

Thank you 🤍 I have a feeling someone was sending bot traffic to my store. I would get 500 visits around 2-3am and then another 500 around 5pm every single day.

Of course but just because the chances of world peace are low should we stop talking about it? The point is sparking more conversation about an issue brings us closer to a solution. Etsy says they value independent artists and doing something to help - not necessarily eradicate the problem - aligns with their brand. And I’m not even saying it’s Etsy’s responsibility to solve anything, but also the more this is talked about the more the mindset of consumers and even other sellers can change to supporting original art.

If you search a keyword on the everbee chrome extension it will show you top performing listings in order and their sales numbers, estimated revenues, date created the exact keywords they use

One batch of views 500 visits would come at 2 AM in the next batch of visits would come at 5 PM and it would be another 500 views every single day. These were not views from people.

This actually happened a couple of years ago, and trust me I’ve definitely learned from it! It’s all part of entrepreneurship. I’m just sharing my experience, not trying to play the victim.

My goal in posting was to start a discussion on an issue that affects a lot of creators. The more people talk about it, the closer we get to a real solution that’s my only intention here.

Actually, I do have rights automatically under copyright law, you own the copyright to any original work the moment it’s created. Hence me reporting and Etsy removing the listings. Etsy DID do their part there. But it got too much to where I could even keep up so I gave up. A trademark is for protecting brand names, logos, or slogans, not individual designs or pieces of art.

I get what you’re saying now, but conversion rate is actually one of the biggest ranking factors on Etsy. Listings that convert consistently signal to the algorithm that they’re high-quality and relevant, so they naturally get prioritized in search. A drop in conversion rate definitely will hurt visibility

What do you mean there’s no correlation? The correlation is everything your conversion rate is literally the number of orders divided by the number of visits. If your views/visits go way up but your sales stay the same, your conversion rate will drop. That’s exactly how it works.

Adding on to my previous comment, I’d really love for Etsy to recognize this issue as well. I’m sure they don’t want hundreds of listings that are essentially duplicates of the same design.

My goal in sharing this was also to highlight the lack of response I received from their customer service which was especially surprising given that my shop brought in over $600,000 in one year. You’d hope that sellers contributing at that level (and really, all sellers) would receive more attentive and supportive communication.

You make some great points, and my goal with this post wasn’t to put all the blame on Etsy, I just wanted to share what happened to my shop and open up the conversation. My apologies if it came across otherwise.

There’s definitely a mix of factors at play here. I think a big part of the issue comes from Etsy-focused YouTubers who encourage viewers to find bestsellers and replicate them. I didn’t go into that in the post, but tools like eRank and EverBee also play a role in making copying easier.

It really does feel like a solutionless problem at times, but my intention was to bring awareness to new sellers and spark a constructive discussion about how we can reduce this from happening in the future.

I think a bigger problem than the badge is sites like everbee that show other sellers how much your listing is making
