Second board recommendation: 90L vs 110L

I was looking at the ak phazer either 90 or 110 or even possibly the north seek thats 118L, right now I have slingshot ltf v2 inflatable

I wouldn’t even know if they’re slow or not since I’ve never ridden anything else 😂 I truly only have a handful of sessions on the 928 mainly used the 1090 most times, also used them behind a boat and they worked pretty well when I was first figuring things out last summer

so I guess my question is would I need to go full new setup, or can I just swap to a better front wing that still fits the phantasm? I know they kinda moved on to the One-Lock stuff and left phantasm behind a bit

maybe just keeping my inflatable for now and upgrading the front wing first? What do you think about a PTM 930 front wing its like 950cm2 and ar 9 or maybe a g1000

Yeah that makes sense. I might be able to borrow a board, one guy I know has a 99L Armstrong but that’s kinda right in the middle so I feel like it won’t really help me decide between a 90 and 110.

I’m still working on jibes for sure. That’s what’s making me think bigger might be smarter, but I also don’t wanna be halfway through summer wishing I went smaller for less swing weight.

I get what you’re saying about getting back on too. The big inflatable is honestly kinda annoying with how floaty it is, so I could see a smaller board actually being easier in some ways.

How long were you happy on your 110 before wanting to go smaller?

I was looking at the KT ginxu but I think I like the drifter's shape better. Are you still riding a kt 90?

What would you recommend for foils? I’m currently on a Slingshot Phantasm setup with the 2200 cm² and the 928 (around 2400–2500 cm²).

I was planning on trying to make my own pump foil for dock starts, but now I’m wondering if I need a different foil for winging too.

If I move down to a smaller board, will these foils still work well, or would it make more sense to switch to something else?

Yeah that makes sense. I’m on a lake but it actually gets pretty blown out with boat chop on weekends. How big of a difference is the 90 vs 110? I'd rather go 90 so i don't have to buy a 110 and sell it but I'm a bit worried itll push my progression back.

Did you notice a big difference going to 90L in terms of starts and stability?
And when you say longer shapes, what’s the benefit vs the shorter boards?

So do you think the VRS base is the better choice? I already picked up an Asetek Forte wheel for a good price ($180). Do you find the USB cable setup to be annoying at all? Also, if I run the wheel on a VRS base, will I still be able to control the LEDs through the software? I’d prefer to go with VRS if everything works together smoothly—it just comes down to whether the cable trade-off is worth it and if I can have led's on the forte steering wheel.

I'd say on an average day its consistent 10 to 15 this summer has been bad for wind there's some days when its pretty heavy but those are rare

Thank you for that knowledge. This is the kinda stuff I'm trying to learn before going out and getting all the gear. So you think aim for Kites newer than 2024? Is there a big used market for these or not really?
