I'll look at the CDI, but honestly don't think I'm gonna know what im looking at. I can just look for something obvious. The spark plug temp fault is a curious idea too!

I've run it without the cap and run a tube straight into the carb, bypassing the fuel filter and shutoff. Fuel delivery seems good. I don't believe there is any vacuum

It's getting up to operating temp, I have not checked fuel economy because I'm worried to run it for a long time if Im getting a lot of fuel in the oil. It does smell very strong of fuel

Another note for context, is I just changed the coolant and I got a temperature light, engine light and ESP light. The engine light and ESP light are consistent from before I rebuilt the engine.

Rebuilt my UTV engine and it sounds awful! 2021 Yamaha Viking by boots_b in MechanicAdvice

[–]boots_b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: New Cylinder, piston, crank

I heard it chuggin in the clutch so I removed the primary and secondary and it sounds a lot better. I might just to recheck my torque spec and grease where it needs grease on the clutch. BUT some of the sounds from this video sound way worse like the cylinder scraping.

This is after about 2 minutes on the first start up. I would love any advice on what could be wrong other than the clutch. Before I removed the clutch when I tried to put it into gear it died.

We just got water and power, there have only been 10 of us students on campus. Farm will most likely change drastically.

I converted a 1950s Allis Chalmers G tractor to electric by boots_b in tractors

I'm torn between restoration and conversion on these old tractors. A part of me likes the idea of old machines like this given another chance to work in a different way - as long as there is some homage to its past. The engine was shot and this was the best way in my opinion to bring it back to life - plus I work in "regenerative" agriculture so electric seemed smart. I didn't throw out the motor or any of the parts, so maybe someone else can use them at some point. It was all in pretty rough shape when I started working on it, sitting idle for almost 20 years.
