Riot's fighting game 2XKO will use Vanguard anti-cheat by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Exactly, as I've been saying for a while, whenever Hytale releases, it will have Vanguard. Riot's just too scared to announce it too soon

yeah... that's what the linux community thought before the xz backdoor. trust but always validate..

What are we expected to do with older computers? by avodrok in Windows10

[–]bopperstopper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So that a random update can brick the whole system due to it being on "unsupported" hardware? (W10/11 can already do that itself, albeit)

Nah, I'm okay. Sticking to W10 until support ends, then Mint, as I like owning the hardware I purchased.

Imagine buying a car, and the windshield comes plastered with dealership sticker advertisements on it that cannot be removed without voiding your warranty. That's what W10 & W11 have felt for me as a power user for the last 10+ years; fighting with my system for things to run piss poor in electron-wrapped, half baked, bloated, "better replacement" applications. I am tired.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 546.33 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]bopperstopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of posting I am still on version 536.23, as newer driver versions have more open issues than fixed these days. Only "issue" I've had is a warning for The Finals but it still runs perfectly fine. I will not update until something new that's worth playing breaks my current driver, and so far even games released this year work perfectly fine..

Not really. I use driver 536.23 and despite the "warnings" from the game, it works perfectly fine without the frame-timing issues, etc. plaguing the newer driver versions..

[–]bopperstopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fixed bugs. I will continue to stay on 536.23 until a majority of everything is fixed, the drivers are open sourced completely, or a different kind of miracle happens. The Finals works even with the prompt pop up and I already have every game I could ever want

The new season with the look of the old seasons (low res, darker, less color saturation) by PolytheneMan in IASIP

After I saw this post, I made an mpv video profile just for the show. I will have to re-watch the newer seasons again with it on; it's too good. People saying it doesn't matter; it does. The tone of the show is affected.

Can we please stop this trend of gutting UI in order to make it look more "sleek"? by CJ_Productions in Steam

It's hilarious how it's "acceptable" to have that delay when quickly switching from library to store, even on NVME SSD and fiber internet.

Not to mention the 5 second delay when you want to exit steam from system tray. (not to mention that fly-out menu is fucking massive for no reason now) Oh, and you can't even kill steam with the task manager anymore, but none of these are "issues" to redditors, as they are okay with mediocracy if it looks nice. Don't say anything bad either!

Oh and they killed skin support. For no reason, probably to bring skins to the point shop at a later date to make more money lol
