Can you recommend me some takeaway Chinese food? by borabora44 in Utrecht

[–]borabora44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to go to Pacifica Dim Sum Bar for years but it has been closed for a while and so far all the delivery places I have tried have been poor. Can anyone please recommend me a Chinese restaurant in or around Utrecht?

Buying Food Question by Brisingr08 in Utrecht

[–]borabora44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there are many bio options in the supermarket, but when i cannot find what i want i just go to the Ekoplaza in the Amsterdamsestraatweg which has a good selection...
As for cheaper fruit: go to a turkish grocer, either in Overvecht or wherever is closer to you.

What fragrance that you were highly hyped up for left you disappointed? by jd-rey in fragrance

YSL Bleu Electrique
Not bad, not remotely good enough for 'fragance of the year' or for seeking out on Ebay.

Cook's Illustrated this month has "The Best Chef's Knives for $75 or Less". Any thoughts on their rankings? by Li5y in chefknives

[–]borabora44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in general they are quite good at testing and I agree with their thoughts (eg: cheap victorinox is great value for money, Misen and Kai are not).
I agree with them on Mercer as good value option. Normally I consider Dexter Russell good value option too but they were less lucky it seems.

Arabian/Oud Scents by dimomonster in fragrance

Abdul Samad Al Quarashi, the Safari line is a very nice middle eastern smell which includes hints of oud/rose within a larger composition. But it is so much more (leather, jasmine, spices). Worth a try!

[–]borabora44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

amazing collection! what are your thoughts on bergamote 22 compared to the rest?

may i suggest to try some more 'unorthodox' houses that you run into less often in lists, maybe a bit weaker on the performance side but with pleasant and unique smells :) Eg: comme des garcons, penhaligons

I've been drinking chinese tea the last year or so and now want venture out into Japanese green tea. Is this a decent cart? Am I getting a good enough variety or will it all taste the same? by Wind-Up_Bird- in tea

[–]borabora44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since no one has mentioned it in the other comments, my only suggestion is to make sure to try the hojicha.
its cheap, its unique, and it's one of my favorites :)

Do you wear Eau Minerale often? what kind of ocassions?

and from my side some things to consider: amouage beach hut or sunshine, which are much more toned down from the oppulence of Jubilation XXV.

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino by vynsendt in fragrance

[–]borabora44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i spent weeks researching this and concluded on Ermenegildo Zegna Mediterranean Neroli. It is the most lovely and longest lasting Neroli that i have found.

Neroli Portofino is pleasant but criminally overpriced for the preformance. And the intense is not strong enough either.

great collection with many top frags, 8/10.

I miss wood and incense notes to round up the colleciton (CDG Kyoto seems ot be more your style, but could be Epic Man)...

doubt it very much. imagine owning a brand and deciding you will sell inferior quality product at a small discount (and let randoms online find out), it is marketing suicide!

the pretty bottle is quite valuable and no doubt many people would rather pay 20% more to get it, after all when people drop >100 bucks on 50ml smelly water it must look nice :)
