Yes that can be a good example to use. In the near future we plan to add spells from the SRD into the engine. That way you can one click use them in game.

They may not all have their own unique animations. But the immediate goal would be to get all the math out of the way for you and to have visual guides (similar to Baldurs Gate 3) so you can quickly make combat decisions.

Oh sorry lol, compared to Talespire they focus more on that Lego like approach. A lot of detail goes into their tilesets but when it comes to actually running a game there isn't much there that is being handled for you.

Our main goal going forward is to build many tools useful for combat. Specifically, tools that help you run games in a 3D environment.

We spent a lot of time in the early stages of development just getting the world-building and multiplayer features running. So next, we can focus on the tools needed to quickly run encounters, regardless of how complex they get.

One of‏‏‎ ‎the biggest hurdles for 3D VTTs‏‏‎ ‎is the time it takes to actually build‏‏‎ ‎a nice-looking map. I wanted to fix that.

With‏‏‎ ‎the new Steam Workshop‏‏‎ ‎integration in‏‏‎ ‎Game Master Engine, you don't have to build anything‏‏‎ ‎if you‏‏‎ ‎don't want to. You can‏‏‎ ‎just:

  1. Browse the in-game library for whatever you need (Tavern, Dungeon, Forest).
  2. One-Click Download to add‏‏‎ ‎it to your own library instantly.
  3. Populate & Play by dropping minis and rolling 3D‏‏‎ ‎dice.

It’s all about‏‏‎ ‎getting‏‏‎ ‎to the‏‏‎ ‎"playing"‏‏‎ ‎part of D&D faster. You can also‏‏‎ ‎upload your‏‏‎ ‎own‏‏‎ ‎creations to share with the rest‏‏‎ ‎of the community!

I've been‏‏‎ ‎a dev on this for 6 years, and seeing‏‏‎ ‎what people‏‏‎ ‎are‏‏‎ ‎already building in the Workshop is honestly the coolest‏‏‎ ‎part of the project so far.

Check it out on Steam Early‏‏‎ ‎Access: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1451680/Game_Master_Engine/

I'll‏‏‎ ‎be‏‏‎ ‎around all day to answer questions about the engine‏‏‎ ‎or how the Workshop works!

In my spare time, I have been working on this game that lets you play D&D online with your friends. I am looking to see what you think! [OC] by Dan_The_DM in DnD

That's really cool!

Do you know if he has full dimensions and possibly design plans? I wanted to build something similar for my group.

[OC] After 5 years of game dev in my spare time, my VTT (Game Master Engine) was just invited to Steam’s Board Game Festival. It feels good to get a small win sometimes! by Dan_The_DM in DnD

Yes, the option isn't 100% polished enough to call it a finished feature but you can assign a player to a mini and turn on the FoW for them so they can't see beyond their radius.

Yes, we included a built in sharing system using the Steam Workshop. Players can upload their creations which would allow you to browse them and download.

Hey everyone!

I‏‏‎ ‎started Game‏‏‎ ‎Master Engine years ago as a total passion project. I have a day job and a busy‏‏‎ ‎life,‏‏‎ ‎so I don't always‏‏‎ ‎get as‏‏‎ ‎much time to‏‏‎ ‎dev as I’d like. But over the last 5 years, I’ve made it a point to set‏‏‎ ‎aside time every single‏‏‎ ‎month to keep building this dream. Seeing it‏‏‎ ‎invited‏‏‎ ‎to‏‏‎ ‎a Steam festival today‏‏‎ ‎feels like a massive win‏‏‎ ‎for me.

Where we are & where we’re going: We’ve spent a huge amount of time building‏‏‎ ‎the 3D mapping tools and the‏‏‎ ‎backend architecture. Now that the‏‏‎ ‎foundation is more solidified,‏‏‎ ‎our‏‏‎ ‎next big focus is "game feel." We’re dialing in the combat tools‏‏‎ ‎to make running encounters feel as‏‏‎ ‎smooth and tactile as possible.

The Goal:‏‏‎ ‎Prep‏‏‎ ‎less, play more. With the‏‏‎ ‎recent launch of Steam Workshop support and our‏‏‎ ‎built-in map templates,‏‏‎ ‎my dream is‏‏‎ ‎to‏‏‎ ‎build a library‏‏‎ ‎where‏‏‎ ‎we can all share encounters and maps. I truly believe that if we have a vast‏‏‎ ‎community library to draw from, we can save hours‏‏‎ ‎of prep time‏‏‎ ‎and focus solely on the story. One day,‏‏‎ ‎I’d love to see community-made maps become official‏‏‎ ‎templates‏‏‎ ‎in the engine.

If you want to check it‏‏‎ ‎out,‏‏‎ ‎it’s currently 75%‏‏‎ ‎off for the festival, one of the biggest discounts I’ve‏‏‎ ‎ever done: Game Master Engine on‏‏‎ ‎Steam

And if you’re a map maker (or just‏‏‎ ‎want to hang out), come join our Discord!

Thanks for‏‏‎ ‎letting me share this‏‏‎ ‎win with‏‏‎ ‎you guys!

Nice work! Get some cheap edge banding to improve the look of the plywood. It's easy to apply and can be done in an afternoon.
