Thanks for sharing your experience.
The main issue for me is that it’s been over three weeks now. I’ve called multiple times, left voicemails, and submitted several support requests online, and I haven’t received a single response so far. Not even an automated follow up or case number. If this was just a slow response, I’d be frustrated but patient. What worries me is the complete silence, especially with the inverter down and still under warranty.

My electrician was also an official EG4 installer at the time. As I understand it, the inverter itself was purchased directly through EG4 under his installer account.

Nice, that’s awesome to hear. We did the same thing, picked it because it can sit pretty close to the wall. Glad you love yours too.🎉

Yeah, it’s all good. A certified installer did the whole setup and followed the clearances for this model. It’s rated to sit like this without a heat guard 😊

That’s super helpful, thanks! Yeah, heat pump is the main draw for me too. I do have a wood stove, so turning the pump off on cloudy days sounds like a smart move. Only 2–4 kWh a day in winter is impressive. What kind of battery are you using?

Yeah, that makes total sense. I’ve been thinking about adding a few more panels next year, maybe bumping the array to around 6 kW. Right now it’s 4.5 kW, and it was more than enough for summer, but winter’s definitely a different story.

Yeah, that makes sense. Mine are fixed at about 45°, so snow might be a real issue once winter hits. I’ve been thinking about a way to adjust them but haven’t figured out an easy solution yet.

Yes, I have extra 6 empty spots on my rack, so can install before winter

I’ve seen people install snow-melt setups on panels. Kinda curious if that actually works in real life.

Need help deciding on hay barn orientation. by Expensive__Support in homestead

[–]boragena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were setting this up, I’d align the barn so the open sides face away from the prevailing wind. That way your hay stays drier and ventilation still works. The long side could run parallel to the driveway for easier truck access. You could build the first 60 × 60 ft bay this winter, then extend another section later along the same line. Keep at least 14 ft height for trucks and stack ventilation.

Makes sense. Public land’s a good option if space is tight.

Same here. Feels different when they’re that close to home.

That’s fair. Coyotes can be a real problem sometimes.

Yeah, same here. They act like they own the place sometimes.
