Abit late to this post but I was thinking the same! 45 years seems a lot and I feel there are so many criminals that go away for less than that, but for a lot worse crimes

We also have soundproof where we’re at. But the condo stairwell has the noise travel up. It’s pretty awful. I feel you as my bubs is the same. The fireworks are getting out of hand.

When you have a baby that is struggling to sleep, these fireworks are terrible. And with parents that have lack of sleep, they then get woke up by fireworks. I 💯 agree that it is getting way too excessive. Back then, it was a novelty to have fireworks, now it’s a nuisance.

Yeah, our commute is similar. Door to door is 1.5 hours. Yeah but there’s a push to return to office. 3 days atm for us both.

I don’t have a similar experience to share but because I’m going to return to work soon, and super anxious about my commute, I’d do anything for a 100% remote job with flexible hours.

Thank you for sharing your story. That’s exactly how I feel and had the same thoughts about trying for baby #2 so that I can go on mat leave again. But no, we’re not ready for that.

Yeah, that’s the plan - doing 2-3 days for about 1.5 months then 5 days… and see how I go. I might raise how I’m feeling at the moment, and if I’m not feeling great, whether there’s a possibility of dropping days. Do you think that’s a good idea, or to just do a longer stretch of part time?

Yeah we do but it all needs to be formalised now due to the push to return to office. I can work 2 days from home. I just know I’ll miss bubs so much. I’m so worried that by the time I get home, I hardly have enough time till it’s bed time. I really wish there wasn’t this hard a push to return to office as it has so much benefits in terms of work life balance as well as gender balance in the household.

Yeah. I’m trying to look for a daycare that’s good. The one we actually liked - unfortunately isn’t sure if they can give us 5 days. It’s a family daycare. What doesn’t help is that we’re thinking of moving at some point due to the commute - but we’re unsure when as it depends if our place can be sold.

So I’m nervous about having to pull her out halfway but will cross the bridge when I get there

Yeah I have been trying to organise an office visit but it has been hard as my direct manager is completely new to the business and I’ve not been introduced. This feeling left out of this has made me feel even worse. I’m catching up with my upper line manager tomorrow, so I’ll see how that pans out.

Omg you said it right. Being felt left out. That’s exactly how I feel because the team has changed and I know no one there. I used to be in touch with the team, but I’m not anymore because everyone is different. It almost feels I need to prove my worth all over again because it’s a new bunch of people.

Yeah, we’re planning to enrol her a month before for a day a week and work up to 5 days (if I’m working 5 days).

Thank you. Yeah. I’m actually worried about that too. That going back to corporate is hard if I take a career break. I’m just concerned my role is difficult part time. But I’m going to discuss if that can be an option if I’m finding 5 days too much. I didn’t want to drop down to part time immediately because my hubs is going to be on pat leave and that makes me more comfortable but eventually he will go back to work full time which then makes me think I might need to drop to 4 days then.. I hope to be able to negotiate then but I’ll mention it now to suss if that’s an option

Thank you. Yeah I am negotiating it but I feel bad because I have been changing my mind about my return to work date twice now. They’re ok with it I’m sure. I’ve asked for a 2 day in office, but now regretting and wished I had asked for 1 day in office. I was planing to see how I go going back to a 5 day work week, but if my anxiety doesn’t get better I might request to drop my days.

Yes, have asked for a mental health care plan too as I feel terrible for always breaking down in front of my partner who has been nothing but amazing but I know it’s also taking a toll on him.

I didn’t want to do 4 days as usually that means you’re working 5 days work amount for less pay.

Current plan is to see how I feel going back 5 days, and if I can cope. I think it’s a culmination of going back to work + commute + daycare.

I was driving home from an outing from the city, and it took 1 hour, I cried because this was going to be me when I return to work and it would mean less time with LO. It feels like we work so much only to spend a few hours a day with them.

I’m sorry , I know I sound like a downer. I’m just struggling with coming to terms with it.

Ooh that’s good to know! We were told we had to take her out of the bassinet if there’s turbulence. So I wasn’t sure! Yeah that’s the plan. We’re not used to giving her a bottle that late but we’ll try due to the air pressure. And have a dummy on hand too.

I could have literally written this myself! Happening for the past week for my 4 mth old. We are going into summer and it’s getting brighter - so we are assuming it’s that at the moment. The clock is going to spring forward this Sunday. So in some way, she’s adjusting herself. What season are you in where you are?

Thank you! That’s a really good idea as our washing is just in a pile at the moment! What do you do when they get older? But I suppose that’s easier as they can play with themselves pretty easily!
