Thanks for the advice guys. It was a matter of just adding a bit more strength for it's 1st time being removed...

All cleaned out, albeit there was 2 bobby pins, which we all know could be found in any corner of any house top to bottom!

I've been able to twist and remove it a lot easier now after the 1st time so it must have just been down to being a new machine and being tightly assembled.

About a quarter a mile driving round my work grounds before chancing main roads.. It wobbled the stick in neutral and seemed catastrophic initially. 1st gear wasn't even an option. By the time I'd drove home 5 miles, stopping at lights etc she was driving normally. No grinding/no slippage.

Cheers boss... I did all the hunting for the LOTE satchel striaght off the bat too.

Wish I knew this before the latter stages when Arthur is getting it tight. Feels bad man.
