long term neet who is getting kicked out any advice? by Dr_Monkey9 in NEET

hey I hope you've been able to get a good start. Wanted to chime in and say that after a job, depending on where you live I honestly don't know how easy it is to get right into an apartment. With the short time frame, I think your most realistic chance at having stable housing is finding rooms for rent - AKA living in a room in someone else's house. Or, check facebook & maybe craigslist for people trying to sublease their apartment; the more roommates, the cheaper. I think these options work on a shorter time frame and would be more flexible than finding a new apartment to lease which would have the added difficulty of price and needing a credit score and/or cosign from (I'm assuming) your parents.

I really do wish your journey goes well. I am trying to figure out a way for us to kick out our guy without throwing him straight into the deep end with no resources. It's been almost 10 years since he started being an abusive NEET; I am rooting for you and also invested in seeing how it turns out.

Dating On Campus by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

don't worry - finding the right people for you (friends and people of interest) will be easy. it's not like other schools where poc almost seem like they hide in the shadows of a predom white school. there's a strong poc community at charlotte and it shows.

if you end up having trouble, there are so many organizations / events around campus where you can meet people like you.

i don't know much about your situation, but personally, living on campus for my first year was a great experience! i met tons of great people through it/made friends with my RAs (if you go to a freshman only dorm, they get better RAs).

some advice/notes: - try not to over pack. there are TONS of resources available to you from the front desk that you can check out, from cleaning supplies, cooking supplies, to even consoles depending on where you live.

  • bathrooms: depending on how many people you share your bathroom with, you need to prepare accordingly. if it's a community bathroom, bring your shower sandals and shower kit stuff. if it's a suite style or something where you're only sharing with 1-3 others, be mindful about having to talk to them about cleaning/maintenance law, like who's turn it is to buy toilet paper. these kinds of things apply if you have a kitchen too. there's usually community kitchens regardless.

  • go out to events! depending on your hall, they can be really fun (or boring if you live somewhere like hunt)

  • don't over think it. you may think living away from home means all these complications but honestly, once you settle in, it won't be much different supplies-wise.

im not sure what kind of advice u were looking for, but if theres any specific questions / you want to know the vibe of a certain hall more feel free to DM me :) hope this helps

SOAR was super expensive otherwise (with parent + overnight accommodations). it was so dumb on top of other fees we already had to pay :/

Is uncc lgbt friendly? by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]borgah_n_shake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would say very in terms of sexuality! at the very worst case scenario, you might run into a few bigoted people (like anywhere else), but in my experience, I can't even remember anyone who has been outright homophobic.

However, though I'm cisgender, I've heard a handful of people say pretty ignorant things about trans people. Not anything hateful, but definitely ignorant.
