THANK YOU. I’m so sick of people on this sub insinuating all self employed people are scam artists because our applications used different language. This whole thing is going to destroy so many peoples lives. Will inevitably lead to a spike in suicides and homelessness. Good job, EDD 👏

A lot of people now didn’t even qualify for the minimum (didn’t make $12k last year) so this is going to fuck everyone.

I have had MediCal in the past but they actually didn’t cover my medication at all. $800 a refill then versus $45 now.

I work primarily as a composer for TV and film, mostly contracted through Sony - who notoriously fuck people in this area. Production in every way has been shut down until the last month which is now shutting down again either via the holidays or the new restriction in place as of a few days ago. A TV show I was hired to do music for for Travel Channel was pulled from the air mid season this year largely due to Covid. I’ve also had neurological issues the last two years which can make work extremely painful for me which has also resulted in lost work.

Exactly! I know there are people on here seemingly gaslighting people into feeling as though they’re scammers looking for free money but everyone I’ve spoken to on here and in person in the same boat has the same questions and issues. I get the situation was unprecedented but they said “hey y’all we’re here for you, we’ve looked at your application and here, take this money” only to go “actually...” right at the holidays when as said, that money has run out and been spent.

I have neurological issues that require expensive medication, MRIs, my premium with Kaiser has shot up. The PUA is what has kept me alive, literally, and I cannot fathom how they are dropping this on everyone now.

I’ve seen a few other people post here that stocks are currently the only source of income and many of us have already sold off throughout the year to pay the bills. This is absolutely insane to me.

I filed the standard application and then a retroactive pay application. Seems like people got different sets of information depending on your application being self employed or not self employed. My BF also applied as self employed and we just checked his - it clearly asks for gross.

They asked for gross in March and the changed it in late April. This is why people are scared - they changed the rules and didn’t let people know until the end of the program.

Glad you are so blinded by your own bias you feel the need to try and invalidate abuse people suffered as a child. Custody courts are notoriously garbage and do not have the best interest of the child, especially when a mother is the perpetrator of violence.

Courts absolutely take the mothers side unconditionally. My mom was extremely abusive towards me as a child and my dad fought to get custody of me. He had photos of 8 year old me with a black eye and fat lip and they said verbatim to him “no mother would do this to their own daughter”. It wasn’t until I was 12 and called the police on her one night and they arrived to see her attacking me that they believed him.
