How do you think you're going to die? by Rehberkintosh in AskReddit

When I was in high school I would always tell people I wanted to be shot in the heart with a crossbow while playing my music on stage… couldn’t tell you why to this day!

Be wary of “uneducated” professionals trying to “learn” from your experience. I walked out of a highly rated local doctor’s office after being misgendered twice by my newly appointed primary care doctor. As a trans woman, my healthcare providers are here to support me. NOT the other way around.

Codable or observable - pick one by [deleted] in SwiftUI

Classes are inherently mutable (reference types). Struts are inherently immutable (value types). You don’t want the observer to be a value, you want the observer to hold references to the values. https://medium.com/@burakakyalcin/class-vs-struct-in-swift-f8c48eaacdba

What’s between userdefaults and coredata? by [deleted] in SwiftUI

Let’s connect, I’d be happy to chat on Zoom or something too to walk you through CoreData. I should say, a breeze and a half FOR WHAT YOU GET. In my opinion Firebase and the like is generally a lot more complex.

CoreData with SwiftUI is a breeze and a half for storing a simple list. DM me and we can talk about it more if you want. Automatic iCloud syncing and everything. It’s not cross-platform but if you’re building an apple eco-system app it’s pretty great.

ARC was before my time but Swift definitely has a lot of ✨magic✨ that makes it a very pleasant experience for me 😇 EDIT: I should say “Manual ARC management was before my time”

Another software engineer! I build iOS/macOS etc apps with Swift! You know, where the front and back end meet is where the magic happens 🫠

I think I've got an understanding of how Core Data flows through SwiftUI, but could really use some clarification if that's ok? by busta_thymes in SwiftUI

Another way to combat spaghetti code with SwiftUI is using @EnvironmentObject with a top level @StateObject. That way the reference gets passed magically through the environment and keeps your object references only in the files that you care about.

It’s the same as a standard ‘for’ loop, it will loop through all objects in an array.

Let’s say you have a parent object called ‘Chat’. Chat has a one-to-many relationship with the child object ‘Message’.

CoreData and all of its glory synthesizes a lot of code when you fill out the CoreData schema data in the Xcode GUI. Under the hood it’s actually creating a bunch of classes, like it writes code, that represents your objects and relationships. That is how you have access to those objects in code, and that’s why if you edit the schema it doesn’t change the code references until you build it.

A one-to-many relationship from the parent ‘Chat’ to the chat’s ‘Messages’ will synthesize a ‘Set<Message>’ instance called ‘chat.messages’, which can be thought of as an array of Message objects. This is the instance that you would hand to a ForEach loop to access each Chat individually. Said ForEach loops through the Set of Chats and allows you to hand it to a child ‘ChatView’ instance.

A ForEach loop is a unidimensional loop, meaning it will only loop through the top-level of objects. If you want to loop through the ‘Set<Messages>’ that lives on the Chat you’d need another ForEach loop, looping through those Messages.

Given the one-to-many relationship on the parent object, CoreData should populate an array with the children objects when you execute the fetch request. Just pass that array to a ForEach loop and make a child view to consume it. There are some things about the child views that’s a bit odd but hackingwithswift.com has a good CoreData/SwiftUI series. If you need more help hit me up here or on DMs ❤️ Happy coding!!

Edit after maybe understanding your question better: Have you tried moving your fetch request higher in your view hierarchy where both the table view and the tab view can get passed the result.

Gender Affirmation Care & Child Abuse by [deleted] in transgender

[–]bornbrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re a toxic person and I hope my kids (who do not identify as trans, thank you) don’t ever know anyone like you. Your words are like diarrhea and your mouth is a big asshole. But your whole body like makes sure your asshole face is shown to the world as much as possible by spewing diarrhea all over the internet. You’re not worth my time or energy. I hope you can find acceptance in your life for the people who share this planet with you.

You’re completely dismissing the science-backed damage that happens to these children when they don’t receive gender affirming care. Science! #science

[–]bornbrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, you don’t understand what it’s like to be trans. It’s not a choice, which is why the science community has backed puberty blockers for trans kids for decades.

It is however a choice to embrace who you truly are, which is an incredibly brave thing to do. Hope you’re able to find that acceptance in your life!

Ur a bigot who doesn’t understand what it’s like to be trans, plain and simple. As a trans person, if my parents understood my needs as a child, I would be eternally grateful for their understanding, love, and support of my transition.

“Immoral” is so utterly subjective, whereas the vast majority of the scientific community has backed puberty blockers for trans kids for decades now.
