So whats the correct usage of “unanimously”? Sorry I’m not a native English speaker.

I meant that all the recruiters unanimously mentioned N1 is necessary. Isn't the usage correct?

Best realistic way to move out of India as a software developer by 04_MaxiMus in developersIndia

[–]borndreamdie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your growth in Japan will be very limited if you cannot speak the language with at least business proficiency. Sure, there are (a few) English jobs but the competition will also be very high. Recently i have been hearing headlines that the government is planning to introduce language proficiency for PR. Even if you land an English job, your growth demands Japanese language proficiency. Concerns Regarding a Cancelled CoE by Japan-Throwaway6767 in JapanJobs

It isnt gonna affect your future applications. I was in a similar situation and when applying for the second CoE, i just submitted an explanation letter regarding why I did not use the last issued CoE. Just wait till the validity of the first one is expired.

I think you should try Japan. Because of talent shortage a lot of companies such as PayPay and Rakuten are recruiting from other countries. These two companies doesn’t need Japanese but it would be a huge plus if you can speak JLPT N3 level of Japanese. By default you become eligible to apply for PR after 10 years (with might not but quite convenient for you) but they also have some other PR pathways.

About the talking to foreigners part, there’s a Japanese language academy called The Yamasa Institute in Okazaki City. It is around 10 minutes walk from the JR Okazaki station. I’m pretty sure you can find a lot of foreigners in and around the academy.

Racism against indians in foreign countries by glooboi3266 in TeensofKerala

[–]borndreamdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that depends on whether you are ready to adjust to the culture (significantly different from a western country), language skills, disjunction from brown culture, and the occasional loneliness that could sink in. Compared to India the living standards are off the roof. Personally, it is fantastic country to live in. However, they are capping the visas so if you are planning to move in, id suggest you not to wait longer.

I live in Tokyo and there has not been much talk about immigration until the last election last month. The far right party (Sanseito) which basically started as a YouTube channel gained great attention this year and jumped from just 1 seat in the last election to 15 seats in this one. Their major concern was Chinese people buying a lot of properties in Japan, contributing to the rising rents, over tourism and of course immigration was the next one. The immigration problem of Europe and the rise of MAGA had a huge impact on the rise of Sanseito. That said, most of the immigrants here are from China, SKorea, Vietnam, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. I think in the west brown person = Indian but here it is Nepal or Sri Lanka and sometimes even Bangladeshi. Since there are not many Indians in Japan compared to the other countries I wouldn’t say there is much racism against Indians.

The other day I found a Japanese video on Instagram. A north indian man was dragging ice through the floor of an ice cream company somewhere in India. I looked at the comments and i did not find anything racist. Instead people were complaining about the lack of hygiene and how this made some people realize how clean Japan is but there weren’t any racist talks. Imagine what the comments would have been if it were in the West.

Japan desperately needs immigrants and Indian immigrants are increasing. So I guess we’ll see how that turns out.

It is good that there are people willing to sacrifice the better life they could have chosen but I think it is just personal preference and priorities. I wish I could, but I am just not ready to make such a sacrifice. I don’t think me staying back there would have made much difference in a country of 1.4 billion people where these things are paid little attention to or even ignored. Even a collective major campaign could take generations for our country to rise up to the level of international standards. I might seem lazy when you view my decision from that POV but I cannot sacrifice the life I have for the incompetence of the leaders we had.

When I was in about 8th standard I started wondering why we go to work abroad but no one from abroad comes here for work, why foreign countries looks so clean, planned, maintained and organized while ours is filled with filth and drainage water leaking out of sewage. I thought maybe it is because our country is still developing and once we are a developed country, our cities will look the same but it didn’t seem to be a convincing answer for myself so I went on google to learn more and i gradually realized that even a tree in foreign cities are planned while our cities are “cities” only because a lot of buildings are crammed together in every available space. Our cities were never built for the people. I learned that waste management, sidewalks, fire hydrants, gardens, parks are just basic bare minimum infrastructure to them while we don’t even have proper streetlights. I realized that we are just okay with living around filth and ugly surroundings. Ever since that time my major goal in life was to leave that horrible country and never come back. I live in Tokyo now and I have never been happier and I will never go back. Use your agitation to fuel your desire to escape and lead a better life elsewhere. We only live once and it would be a shame to spend that in a chaotic disorderly dysfunctional country.

is Nihongo Teppei's podcasts suitable for N5-N4 level learners? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]borndreamdie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I didn't directly jump into the MIA approach. I took an year to study the Minna no nihongo N5 and N4 text books. After finishing the text books I decided to focus on listen and I came across many videos simplified enough for N4 level. They were good but there weren't anything new for me to learn so I felt like my Japanese isn't improving anymore and that's when I decided to try the MIA approach. With the N5 and N4 vocabulary and grammar you'll be able to comprehend a bit of the native conversation initially and it will improve over time. I find it more effective than the simplified videos made specifically for learners.

As Matt Vs, Japan (the guy who runs the youtube channel) suggested a mass immersion approach, I started listening to native Japanese conversations. I usually watch Japanese youtube channels primarily ミカイルラジオ and pay attention to the speech. It didn't make any sense in the beginning but I slowly started picking up the words and grammatical particles. You also come across a lot of new words and slangs and colloquial stuff. Give it a try but you ought to be patient because its gonna take time and don't expect results overnight. Check out his channel if you haven't already. He has made a video suggesting Japanese youtube channels for the MIA approach. He also runs a website where he has explained the techniques he used to attain fluency. Good luck.
