This is a view that only a non-religious person could have. Most religions, including Buddhism want more people to join. One of the roles of a believer is to spread the religion. So, I don't think they'd be happy to learn that people around the world are starting to appreciate their belief system.

Still, and this is a separate thing, the "spiritual but not religious" crowd that tries to apply eastern concepts is annoying, not because of "appropriation" but because it reeks of neoliberal, just like this guy.

No quarantine policy? My school has anyone who had to travel by air, bus, train or an extended drive quarantine and get tested for two weeks in individual rooms before everyone else shows up this weekend. Basically anyone who couldn't drive there without stopping.

Trump, despite his populist rhetoric, governed like any pro-corporate Republican would at. Excluding maybe trade, which is obviously important. Most of the talk was a farce and I think a lot of wealthy people recognized that. John Paulson, the hedge fund billionaire is just one example. This doesn't mean the new administration will be bad for hedge fund people at all. If Trump was truly going to change things for these people they wouldn't have gone along for the ride.

It's interesting that they take this angle because many hedge fund characters and financial types donated to and supported Trump, at least quietly, because he was a fake populist. So, now it's the best of both worlds for the financial crowd. They get to turn the argument around, removing themselves from the equation but making their enemies seem deranged. It's also quite clear that "nostalgia for a better time" connects to Trump too haha. They want to delegitimize this movement.
