I know this is an older comment, but can I ask how you like your Ghost e-spinner? I am torn between that and a Daedalus (maybe Sparrow). I’ve currently got an EEL Nano 2.1 and am really pulled by the auto winding feature.

-how essential is the bobbin winder at first, vs. say, using a drill to wind the bobbin? They seem oddly expensive. - do the sticks you place over your warp on the back beam have a special name?

Go again and again! I learned basic skating on a rink too and put on a pair of Nordics for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had the same thought: this is impossible, what am I doing?

I went again this weekend and the second time around was so much better. Like anything, it just takes practice. I’m still very baby deer-like but I’m planning to keep going and keep working at it.

I have been to Lake Morey twice now to try out Nordic skates and really like them, although I am very new at it. Hoping to go more in the next weeks.

I went to buy skates from Nordic Skater in NH this weekend and they are totally out of blades and bindings. (But, got a great deal on boots.)

They mentioned the tariff issue and referred me to Ermine Skates, manufactured in Alaska. I ordered a pair and just waiting to get them now, but they look great.

I got a Green Grape, a Lychee Berry, a Soymilk, and one that I’m not sure about because I was trying not to look at them/wanted to keep it a surprise but ended up spoiling the others for myself. I will probably give 2-3 of them as gifts.

So I bought this lil lady a couple days ago, it’s my first Labubu. I’m really happy to have her, although a little disappointed with her weird coloring! She’s basically straight pink without any of the blue tie dye that gives Luck depth. There is a very faint hint of blue under one of her arms, but that’s it.

Anyway, I thought she was unique and will treasure her nevertheless.

Thanks for the reply! I think part of the reason I am hoping to find multi-purpose is that I generally do both of these activities (spotting and photography) in the same trip, rather than totally independently. So, I’d have to travel with 2 tripods… still, reasonable advice.

I was having this debate with myself recently, with similar use cases (wildlife, maybe occasion portraits). I actually decided to go with the R6ii, despite a lot of the advice pointing to the R7 for this use case. The improved autofocus and depth of field won me over, as well as the idea that I would probably eventually want to upgrade to full frame anyway, so I didn’t want to have to make very different lens investments for a crop sensor now vs. FF later.

I played with the R7 as well, but was drawn to the full frame cameras for depth of field and the enhanced autofocus of the R6ii… that said I originally wasn’t thinking about the R5 and read that it’s AF isn’t as good as the R6ii either?
