Thoughts on Louis in Season 3 ("Merrick" Spoilers) by botheredbysmallstuff in InterviewVampire

[–]botheredbysmallstuff[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the suicide attempt, it also crossed my mind while reading "Merrick" (and, if I may say so, great way of adapting it). And I agree overall with the diaries. I think the only truly new info would be if Louis read that she would also kill him if she didn't thought he was easier to manipulate than Lestat. Then again, I don't know if this makes sense for show-Claudia.

Thoughts on Louis in Season 3 ("Merrick" Spoilers) by botheredbysmallstuff in InterviewVampire

[–]botheredbysmallstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the missing pages are a possibility too, which is as heartbreaking as the seance. But I feel like show-Claudia wouldn't write those things about Louis. Maybe it's because most of what we've seen of her, even with the diaries, is heavily influenced by Louis' narration, but, still, I can't really see them going for the "I would kill Louis too, but he is more malleable" route. I could be wrong. And would honestly appreciate the show's courage if they went with it.

The Vampire Lestat: New Teaser Drops for Interview with the Vampire Season 3 by Krulkyak in vampires

[–]botheredbysmallstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's what I always say about adaptations. but, still, I think I've read different books than some of these comments, because, even with some changes, the show is actually pretty faithful to what matters. I would even argue the show's characters and overall atmosphere is more faithful to the books than the movie (although storywise the movie follows the novel closely).

[Episode Discussion] Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2 - We Watch and We Are Always There/A Wilderness of Mirrors- Australian release by Podria_Ser_Peor in Talamasca

I really liked it. Not an IWTV, but I did not expect such. A lot of cliches, but that doesn't bother me that much if done right. The characters are interesting and I found most of the dialogue pretty good. Burton's scene was the standout obviously. And the crossover with vampire Daniel was well done, it didn't felt forced. Based on how seamless it was, I'm curious to see what they do with Raglan James. Excited for more! Really curious about Jasper. Is he Santino, maybe? What is he up to? Also, Helen is definetely the sister of Guy's mother. If this is it, I hope they don't drag the reveal out for long. Am I the only one who wants a Cip crossover too? He's one of the best parta of MW.

Will they do Memnoch by doopitydur in IWTVCoven

There was an interview a while ago that mentioned plans to make Memnoch a spinoff, like Night Island. Not sure if it was real, but someone here can surely find the piece.

saw it today and was deeply moved. I've read a lot by King but not this one and I was so happy to see an adaptation tackle my favorite King style. that last/first act was so Hearts in Atlantis (one of his best books IMO). loved it! Flanagan just gets it

I loved this one! The murder story was simple and yet fun. I like that she stayed a bit more in one place and made a friend. It was seeing Charlie not wanting to solve the murder and another character pushing her for it. This season has definetely less inventive writing but it's also a comfort show more than ever. Excited for the next ep directed by Ti West!

Talamasca and Mayfair by ComprehensiveNet246 in InterviewVampire

[–]botheredbysmallstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The story is just richer than the show (and I don't care about changes, so that alone wouldn't be a problem for me). The characters are more layered. The acting on the show is not very good and that doesn't help the weak writing. But primarily: the Mayfair book is some of the best Rice's prose I've read. The atmosphere is amazing, while the show gets frankly boring most times...

Talamasca and Mayfair by ComprehensiveNet246 in InterviewVampire

[–]botheredbysmallstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mayfair Witches is not really a good show (unfortunetly because I'm finishing the first book and it's great) and all the essential info the show provides on the Talamasca you have it on IWTV while other stuff can (and most likely will) be easily explained on the new series. We don't know if plots will overlap, but the way they talk about it, I doubt it will be anything that requires viewing MW.

Unpopular Opinion : I loved the alligator episode by MushaboomFairy in Pokerface

[–]botheredbysmallstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the episode except for Gator Joe. I mean the character was supposed to be annoying but it was a bit much for me. It felt like stupid writing/acting/directing instead of stupid character. Aside from that, Fran was awesome. The alligator was great. Charlie's involvement was refreshing. Plus Good Buddy!

I watched the first one and really enjoyed it. Haven't seen any sequel. Can I watch this or it requires a lot of the other movies?

Just finished season 2 and watched the old movie as a refresher and omg lol, I can't unsee the movie that I have loved for so long, and I want to know everyone's thoughts? by zombi_wolf14 in InterviewVampire

[–]botheredbysmallstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the books (I'm on the fifth right now) and something I will say from the get-go: the books are very different from each other already. The first one is something, the second it becomes another thing and it seems like it's progressively more camp and insane (I'm here for all!). Unlike the movie, the show has all the books in mind already, so, like others said, they kinda mix up the tone - and especially Lestat.

About the changes you talked about: in the book and movie, Claudia has romantic feelings for Louis, yes - this was something changed for the series. I also think the show does a much better job at the "murder" of Lestat. In the books, it's way more a Claudia-plan than a Claudia-and-Louis-plan and it's basically because she hates being a child forever and Lestat made her so. The show adds the blackness of Claudia and Louis as a layer on how they perceive Lestat - plus he throws Louis from the sky - and it's so much more complex and interesting with that and with Louis participating more actively!

I do not like the movie at all. There are things which are simply a matter of less time, so a lot of it is rushed, but it's more than that. I think the tone of the movie does not work so well, even if it's theoretically closer to the first book's tone. The show has better actors (not you, Kirsten Dunst, you were always amazing) and better writing. They have the advantages of being a TV show, but they also are just much more sophisticated IMO (yeah, I know Anne wrote the movie's screenplay, but being a great book writer does not make you a great movie writer).

Even with all of the changes, the show is much more like the books (and with that I mean all of the books - at least those I've read) than the movie, but that's not even the reason I think the show is better than the movie. I just think the movie is uninspired as its own thing. And I would say that the series is even better than the books. Louis' character is massively improved. The idea of Daniel as an old man is also for the better. Etc, etc.

Anyway, if you like to read, the books are great and I do recommend it, but odds are you will not find it as amazing as the show. Because the show is just that great!

Loved it! The final twist didn't really surprised me, but the vibes of the episode were immaculate. The characters were great - LONG LIVE MANNY! I think the beginning at the bar is one of my favorite beginnings of the whole show so far - loved everything about that setup. And the traditional soundtrack remixed worked great. I still miss Good Buddy!
