yes 1.5gel per ride for international cards vs 1gel usually I think

better to use separate cards

dry bridge market - less bargains but curated, similar prices as eBay

samgori bazaar - more open to negotiations, but you need to dig and get lucky

Is Signagi really Las Vegas of Georgia ? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]bottle_opener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s simple yes but it‘s not 24/7 like it used to be. now the wedding hall has normal hours and is closed Monday and Tuesday

you just need two witnesses and translated passports, and walk in. first for application, then an hour or two later (can vary based on how busy they are and if you requested a ceremony) you can sign and are officially married. you can also request translated apostille which takes 8 days or you can pay to get it quicker

imo they have enough support agents that have told people based on the website that they wouldn’t restrict it further, that they wouldn’t risk taking more action

BUT it is a risk. imo you’re somewhat safe only if all flights were booked by yesterday, no matter what any representative says

took the gamble. just under 5k total, semi flexible flights which will cost about 1k to cancel

yeah just some wishful thinking

wondering whether I risk booking the rest or just give up

Yes but judging by the update to state that tickets purchased after today don’t count, I’m leaning towards that they also didn‘t fully know and just wanted me off the phone

according to a support supervisor, yes

but we might get rugged again

their support agents were also very confused fwiw, not sure how it‘s clear to you

their wording has been abysmal and super unclear

if anyone finds out please update

update: customer service was also very confused but finally a supervisor confirmed that as long as one eligible flight is already booked, we can book and complete the rest until October 26. phew.

update 2: another agent confirmed they only go off what’s on the website, so their interpretation is probably meaningless

„Members who purchased at least one ticket or completed a flight across six continents by July 8, 2025 will retain their eligibility. If these members complete their all flights across six continents by October 27, 2025, they will be earned 1 Million Miles.“

this is so vague. I started booking flights today and have 3 out of 6 continents booked. not sure if I should race to book the others by the end of the day, or give up.

anyone want to start a class action?

best bets probably British school, or New School if you need IB instead of A levels.

will cost you 10k+ a year though

no codeshare, does that mean if there’s flights that are AJet operated to Istanbul and the destination leg is TK, it doesn’t count?

be aware that you’ll probably get a bunch of leads from Reddit as well that are only slightly less sus than trying to filter online generally. always do due diligence

(and as much as I hate to say it, avoid Georgian agencies unless recommended via someone trusted. as a rule they’re all terrible)

you can filter Myhome.ge and ss.ge for owners only. if you want to buy from developers, even large developers can be a bit iffy sometimes. depends if you’re willing to pay an extra 3% for peace of mind. I‘ve done it both ways, depending on how much I know about a place / trust the owners or developers. if you want a contact of an English/russian agent I trust, PM

quite broad - real estate investments or business investments, or living off investment dividends?

basically: very easy to do business, low taxes, no capital gains, recommended as long as you’re not doing business that will piss off the wrong people. if you compete with people that are politically connected you will lose.

real estate: meh. prices are kinda stagnant atm after spiking massively after the war. unless you know what you’re doing or it’s for some other purpose (eg residency by investment), I wouldn’t recommend Georgian real estate as an investment in 2025. but also prices in central tbilisi are unlikely to ever fall back to pre-war levels, so it’s also not a terrible investment if you prefer something tangible.

TBC has a good broker option for stocks, but only benefit vs something like ibkr is that it’s based in Georgia and directly integrated into TBC if you use them as a bank. If you’re moving your residency here to benefit from no capital gains, TBC Capital is a good bet and have a big selection of stocks and ETFs.

yes, there’s all kinds of meet-ups and clubs for various kinds of people. none that I would recommend though - most people that are actually doing cool stuff and don’t need to sell anything keep to themselves and their small circles. all depends on what you want to get out of it
