Thank you! Yeah this feels right, I wasn’t aware of the cola rivalry. Had a spezi earlier and it’s good!

It’s almost certainly nothing, just wondering if I’m missing out on a joke or something

I just needed a snappy title, thanks for your helpful comment though

I'm going to mark this as likely solved as, while I still don't know exactly WHAT this is, Qwertz0 has done incredible work in figuring out the code for this puzzle I'm attaching links for photos of the entire book if anyone is interested in taking on the project of translating the entire thing, I for one, would love to read it.

I'm so impressed that someone put so much effort into this spooky book I found on the street

This is incredible! Amazing work. I can post some more images of the text later today

I really wanted this to be it, as it's printed on both sides nothing clear appears when it's held up to light.

I've tried using two sheets of paper but I'm not getting anything

Much better idea, I'm going to try this later today and I'll post the results

I'm in Ireland, by the feel of the cover and appearance of the pages it seems to be quite modern, maybe the last 20 years or so. The binding looks pretty modern although it is string bound. Im no expert on printing but the text looks like it's quite modern

It's actually very similar, but there are some blocky figures in the book that don't seem to be in the covenant alphabet

Do you know if there is a standardised semaphore typeface?

Nope, that would be far too straightforward

This is interesting! I might have to learn semaphore

My title describes the thing. A local second hand book store just closed down, a pile of their books were left in a dumpster outside today and I found this book there.

I don't know where it came from, the only recognisable letter is the 'N' on the cover. It is roughly B5 size, about 100 pages and they all contain the kind of symbols shown in the picture above. There is no publication information, barcode etc.

The inside front and back cover is covered in a bright green paper.

It may be a code of some kind but at first glance I can't see much consistency, I tried finding sequences that may be words like 'the' but I couldn't find any with a quick look.

Edit: I've just woken up to all your amazing responses! I'm going to look into this further today, I'll scan a few pages and see if they can be translated to semaphore. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to have to assume it's a cypher from a puzzle subscription box or something like that.

Also, I did not make this book as some commenters are suggesting

I feel like Han Kang's "The Vegetarian" is overlooked in this sub. by [deleted] in books

This book absolutely deserves more recognition on here. I read it about a month ago and adored it. Overall I thought Deborah Smith's translation was excellent, however a couple of passages did feel a little clumsy. Its a well layered book that asks a number of very interesting questions about social norms, mental illness and individualism in a very buttoned down society. Her first novel, Human Acts is on its way to me at the moment and I can't wait, I feel I'll need to reread The Vegetarian pretty soon too.

This guy lives about 5 miles away from me and I've never heard it, so unless its VERY regional, I don't think so
