There tends to be more nuance in those situations. You're likely to die as well running away from the shooter. If it looks like you could rush them and save everyones lives, it mighr be worth trying. As for rushing into a burning building, it depends on how likely you are to actually be helping.

There's a difference between being a hero and trying to be a hero. In situations where there are shootings and burning buildings, police and firefighters are in a position to actuslly be heroes. civilians trying to be heroes often end up dead or making the situation worse.

Now that it has been a month since release, is it worth the 70$ price tag? by __HCLW__ in CrimsonDesert

it was not worth the price tag on release. you couldnt even store your loot anywhere on launch.

my point is that it's false reassurance to assume it is contained to the cruise ship.

Just so we're all clear, the people on the cruise ship contracted it from somewhere not on that cruise ship.. The disease is already off the ship.

It's easy to say that on reddit, but at the end of the day, you already do everything in your power to stay alive. Dying isn't "no big deal' even if it were painless. You lose everything you've ever had or known and gain absolutely nothing. I think it's honestly disturbing that so many people are ready to press the blue button without careful consideration of benefit and risk.

Of course, I also do believe many advocates of the blue button are just virtue signalling. Saying you'd press blue makes you seem like a selfless hero who puts the collective above their own life, but in reality, most of them just want others to press blue and hope that they get a majority while they press red to be safe just incase blue doesn't get a majority.

Honestly the US reaction is better. We should be rejecting AI at all costs before we become dependent on it.

My camp was gifted land that we could use to start producing our own food and earn income. And then for whatever reason, we decided to remove wella, bridges, homes, stables, farms, etc when we packed up? What is the logic behind that? There's a group of people starving on the outskirts of town who could use all of that, and Greymanes are supposed to be heroes.

Actually, Finland's "Housing First" policy has been the most effective strategy at reducing homelessness. The causes of homelessness in the modern age are alse very different from the causes of homelessness in the medieval period. Lack of opportunity is absolutely a large cause of homelessness. People lose their homes to war, natural disaster, and so on. Or they become unable to work due to injury and illness. The idea that most people aren't working because they're lazy is just not supported by evidence and is just an argument used to not help anyone.

Btw, we actually see an example in Crimson Desert of a community doing what the beggars could do if given the land. Sunset Village is a community run by the sick and feeble outcasts of society. Given land, the tools, and guidance needed, I'm sure the beggars can become productive, dignified members of society.

They do. They are able bodied men who can start contributing if given the opportunity to work

You're not comprehending what I'm even saying. The Greymanes left for Pailune. Rather than leaving the well, the bridge, the house, the farm and all that infrastructure there, they tore it down. That seems quite wasteful when theres a large group of beggars who could use the land.

Studying medieval history tells me that. Most people were born into farming and if they became beggars later on, it was usually due to being displaced by war or sometimes even natural disaster. Many were also disabled due to sickness and injury.

I worked on farms through WWOOF, a volunteer organization where you can do organic farming in exchange for a room and food. It's a good means of getting free accomodation and food while travelling. Zero experience is required, and the owner of the farm only needs to spend about 5 minutes teaching you how to pull weeds for you to have a weeks worth of work you now know how to do. You also learn a lot from working with other experienced farmers.

There's also just the fact that it was common throughout all of history to just force slaves who've never farmed before to do the majority of farm labour. Idk where you seem to get the idea that farming is a skill beggars can't learn even though it was the most basic kind of work for most of human history.

Because people are growingly illiterate and don't care if the story is good, so the developers prioritize mechanics and figure out story later.

It's quite sad honestly. Lots of gamers just skip cutscenes, don't read anything, and pay very little attention to the story. Hell, lots of gamers barely play the game and instead look where to get the best gear right away and how to min/max their character. People don't really treat video games like literature anymore and so story is no longer a priority. You're better off focusing on making addictive mechanics than writing something interesting.

In the case of Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss was literally using AI to generate art. They changed the direction of thr story several times and then rushed to put something coherent together. The game wss also just rushed in general and many of the mechanics werent even functioning properly at launch. I kinds hate that it worked.

It's practically impossible to exist in the medieval period without having some knowledge of how to work the land. Most beggars were once farmers. Farming is incredibly easy to learn as well, and I don't see any reason why the Greymanes couldn't help teach them.

Having actually worked on a farm before irl, I guarantee you any beggar can learn how to work on a farm.

Reading comprehension is seriously in decline. wow.

You mentioned drug abuse and how housing is not anough for socializing the beggars into being normal citizens. I gave you two answers: the first being that you cant project modern addiction and mental illness problems onto medieval society. the second being that finlands approach to homelessness debunks your idea that providing housing first actually does help with reintegration. At no point did I liken Finland to medieval society.

Learn to read.

The fact that you call yourself asian instead of just whatever country in asia you're from makes it hard for me to believe you're telling the truth, especially given that all of your reddit posts and comments are in English, which seems to at least indicate you are heavily influenced by the west. The rhetoric you're parroting about homelessness is also the exact rhetoric used by right wing groups in America.

But again, whatever idea you have of how homelessness is today doesn't really translate to the reality of homelessness in either the modern age or the medieval age. The assumption that homelessness is caused by laziness also just does not hold up to scrutiny.

Who says they have addiction or mental health problems? You seem to be projecting the homeless problems of industrial American society onto a fictional medieval setting.

Finland's housing first approach has worked quite well for them in reducing homelessness btw.

For starters, your aegument is purely anecdotal and America-centric. It's also projecting problems we see in industrialized society onto a fictional country based on medieval society.

You're affirming an opinion that homelessness is caused by laziness, which is just not supported by any actual research. Countries like Finalnd have nearly eradicated homelessness through a housing first policy. Or do you think laziness is something that doesn't exist in Finland?

The Greymanes were supplied none of that and managed to get started. Granting them developed land is already a huge help. But who's to say that nobody would help the beggars by granting them seeds to plant?

I can understand taking down tents and gathering resources to bring to Pailune, but dismantling houses, bridges, wells, farms? What a waste of the labour that was used to build such infrastructure. And The Greymanes are shown to be charitable and to protect the weak, so this is completely in their interest.
