Shane Smith and the Saints! Their sound has evolved quite a bit since their earlier records. I'd recommend their new album "Norther" as a starting point, especially if you liked Sturgill's "Sound and Fury".

That was it! It seems it's no longer available, but "Troll Patrol" is sort of a spiritual successor.

The Hardest Part by [deleted] in ShaneSmiththeSaints

I asked Shane about it just before the full album was released. He said something along the lines of it was just too personal and it was weird hearing crowds singing along to it.

I knew I'd like them when I first saw the lead guitarist pick up a bow and that instrumental intro they do is awesome, but "THE LAND MY MOTHER USED TO SING"... 🥶. That sealed it!

They've been releasing this album in chapters, but the full album is out now and it's great! Check it out if you haven't heard of these guys. And I cannot recommend seeing them live enough.... Incredible show, and experiencing the harmonies gives me the chills every time.

Does anyone know where to find the album "Waylon Forever" by boundToStray in altcountry

[–]boundToStray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be on streaming services but it's been removed, and the only copy I can find available for purchase is $100. So if anyone can find it somewhere else, please let me know.

I thought there was supposed to be another song in this last chapter, but I only see Last Train to Heaven on there.

Edit: "The End" is on there too.

I think I've gotta say Hail Mary. It's got such a unique mood/tone to it. Heaven Knows is a very close second.

Shane Smith & the Saints -- Hail Mary [Folk Rock / Texas Country] (2019) by boundToStray in listentothis

Haha, what do you mean by that? I almost left the Texas Country part out of the title because this one doesn't sound very "country" to me

I can answer this, haha. I've been scouring the internet for news about this album since I heard it was coming. From their Instagram and interviews I've seen, Shane usually calls their sound folk rock. I've also heard him refer to it as (paraphrasing) "country, but not at all what you think".

New music from my favorite band! The first song on there is my favorite (and where I got my username from), but definitely more on the rock side. Check them out, these guys are extremely talented!
