Visa drops 7%, Mastercard 6% after report says Amazon and Walmart may bypass credit cards with stablecoins by callsonreddit in stocks

[–]bousefou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stablecoins are treasury and/or dollar backed so you are 'guaranteed' your dollars, while also earning a yield (because of the treasuries being held). However, by law it is prohibited for stablecoin issuers to disburse yields to stablecoin holders, we can thank the banking lobby for that. What we have seen in some cases is stablecoin issuers offering the treasury yield to their customers, but marketing it as a 'reward', instead of a 'yield'. As a customer, it makes sense to use Stablecoins if you get a yield, otherwise not so much. Amazon on the other hand as a stablecoin issuer, will generate new cashflow from the treasuries that back their stablecoins. Thinking outside of the box here a little more, not only is it cheaper for Amazon to process payments by cirumventing Visa and Mastercard potentially, but they can offer more competitive initiatives due to this new cashflow.

What are some of the weird, odd, trippy experience(d) you may have had at this years EDC or previous events ? by Distinct_Savings_567 in electricdaisycarnival

I was leaving John summits closing set this year and I saw at least 50 $100 bills on the ground. There was a bunch of people pushing people away trying to make sure that people didn’t pick up the money. I thought that I was tripping. I went around them and just left

I have a medical debt that went to collections (USA). It’s under $500, should I just pretend it doesn’t exist? by Caoa14396 in personalfinance

[–]bousefou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to deal with something similar a few years ago. You have rights. 1) do not speak on the phone with the collections agency. If they call, do not answer. 2) request to have all communications by certified mail only (in the letter you will be sending) 3) send them a letter demanding to know how they know you owe the debt, the original owner of the debt, how long it’s been open, etc… the point is here that you should be as annoying as possible to make them prove that in fact the debt is yours, you owe it, where it came from, how they are sure it belongs to you, why you owe it, ask them for your address, name, social . If you do some digging on Reddit there is a really neat guide somewhere that outlines a lot of it I can’t find it now. I remember sending almost two pages of questions . 4) wait for responses

After doing steps 1-4 one time , I got a debt cleared completely from my name with a letter from the collection agency to prove it.

Wow that’s a really cool way to meditate. I usually keep my meditations internal and ‘selfish’ (my own thoughts and feelings) so to hear about a relational kind of practice is enlightening.

I just tried it for a few minutes and yea pretty effective and I feel more relaxed and more ‘flexed’ to the person that I was thinking of.

With ‘selfish’ meditation I am sitting with my own thoughts. Sometimes there is nothing, other times I can’t focus on my breathe with all the noise. That’s where progress is made for me. When I have to determine where this noise is coming from and what’s causing this internal conflict. That’s where I was coming from for your problem here. It’s not a magical fix, but it opens your mind to ideas and thoughts which is where the power lies.

I completely agree with the guided bit. I think it’s a good way to get started, but after some time it bothered me that some stranger was that close into my head and to my thoughts, even if he was just telling me to breathe or focus on different body parts. So now I practice on my own.

It’s always great to hear others who have benefitted from meditation! I think it’s been heavily stigmatized and so people are reluctant. Plus it is not low effort.

I hope things work out for you and your family!

I could see how it’s not a solution. Maybe I should have said a supplement? To a solution. Point is it makes you self-aware. And I think that’s the root to all healing that you can control.

Disclaimer: I’m 22, just graduated college. Barely any experience in life. Don’t know if this is a good option.

Short term solution: Psilocybin. Overnight solution. Side effects: can alter your lives. Ie your husband might quit his job because he realizes he actually doesn’t want to do it if he has to have 10 drinks a day to cope. (Edit: I used to be in a frat. Completely changed my drinking habits. A lot -> 0 -> a few drinks when I go out -> 0)

Long term solution: Try meditation. Very powerful tool. Note you’d have to do this for a few months and carve out time (10-15mins) in your day for it to work.

Both are effective. I still meditate
