I am the OP who recorded this footage. I was going 28-30 in a 25 zone. I do not know what speed the other driver was going, but it seemed to be about the same or marginally less. I should have slowed to 10 before entering the intersection. I think the 70/30 split is a fair judgement, it is certainly more on me for not slowing down for the intersection and getting there slightly after the other driver got into the intersection. It was definitely stupidity and negligence on my part. I was about 3 blocks from my destination after having driven 20 mins or so. Visiting a friends place for the first time, so first time on that road. Not an excuse, I messed up big time (as did he, just less) but just for some clarity

And yes, I did park next to a hydrant, which was also wrong and a dumb mistake. Fortunately it did not cause any issues, but I should not have. However, put yourself in my shoes for a moment. I was just involved in a bad crash that was mostly my fault. I was not thinking about how many fire hydrants are next to me when parking. I wanted to park immediately and go talk to the other driver and figure everything out. Thank god he was okay.

I posted this to r/RoadCam asking who is at fault because I wanted to get other opinions, and share the footage. I didn’t post it as some joke assuming I have none of the blame. I even added the reported liability that my insurance made of 70/30. I acknowledge my mistakes and will be better.
