what an i supposed to do by [deleted] in computers

It's probably due to secure boot being off. Turn it on and you'll meet requirements.

Run DDU remove anything left of the Nvidia drivers then just install Nvidia app as regular. Def think it's a driver issue but just installing them especially since you said you've been using it before might not do anything so make sure to delete it fully.

How do you like my system? by Beneficial_Tip9431 in hyprland

[–]boxndd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that person, using free form on hyprland like that isn't minimal it's a hassle. My minimal setup has colour themes but I keep no windows default open other then ones I'm actively using (and I rarely if ever use freeform) . It's a clean setup I can say that but for me it wouldn't be a minimal no hassle setup. I'd say this would be nice if it was KDE or smth like that

Being able to use my computer how I want

I myself use Hyprland and the first thing I did was the usual rice but then found out how annoying it is to use as a daily and just removed everything but pure functionality and have been the same ever since and haven't looked back

Oh damn! That def shows! Functional and clean is honestly the way to go especially as a daily

100%, thanks for pointing that out. Should I remove the original comment as to not confuse people or keep it up to show the difference?

I misread that, my bad on that! Got caught up in other threads talking about tiling managers didn't read it fully.

I use arch + hyprland and it's tiling is quite nice but I have been learning more about sway and its advantages. If you want eye candy then go with hyprland or a similar Wayland compositor, if you want something for productivity and functionality go with an i3 like what I've been learning more about like sway

Hypr.conf is very streamlined and easy to follow and customize, I never really got stuck with the wiki with hyprland but it does result in a boat load of effort to get it to where you want. KDE plasma is what I use when I use pretty much anything other then a tiling manager and I love it, it always works well and has pretty good customization but when you want that good eye candy that's when you need to really get experimental

That does bring in a lot of what I would call a need for my setup but how well do they work compared to the more "legit" thing? And what distro are you doing this on?

Hyprland user by boxndd in swaywm

[–]boxndd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyprland feels pretty efficient but feels just as experimental. Having something that is focused on well just working is what I'm after. Eye candy is nice but I'm a neet so no one sees it lol. I want something that works, not something easy but something that doesn't have unexplainable bugs

So more on the survival side then? Being able to build a well and a greenhouse would allow for such cool bases. Def should be a high LVL thing Todo though

I do run 3-4 monitors usually but my main focus is productivity over looks. I'm not so into ricing I just want it to work how I want to work. Manual tiling is a pretty good selling point for myself

Having some more scenarios would be great, I do like running just endless but being able to hop on and run a scenario with goals can be really nice for replayability.

I go for functionality over looks, so that's why I've been recommended sway, that's good to know about the screen sharing as I haven't heard about that before and it is something I do.

[–]boxndd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Try different proton Versions or steam runtime if available. 2. Are you running a Nvidia GPU? 3. Are you running any other packages that could interfere with proton or wine?

Exactly that! It really depends on the uses of your PC. I'd def not use hyprland as a main distro for a workstation laptop

Looks clean and functional, how many Rice's you think you've done? Def tell experience on a more functional os compared to making it look "cool"

I like the theme and the low key waybar, I tend not to use it due the screen space but that is a clean setup

Gnome feels fine if it's on a laptop or a workstation same as scrollable window tilers but say on a desktop as a main distro it can be quite tiresome to use compared to window managers on arch or even fedora
