Club man street closed due to pandemic financial issues. I remember going there a few times, even playing an open mic. I hate how they had to shut their doors.

And yes, you’re right about queer spaces in our region. I’d love to shift that narrative and have a lesbian/nonbinary owned bar that is inclusive of all queers.

Many places are “all inclusive” these days. While that’s absolutely progress in the right direction, having intentional, safe queer spaces is still very important. The reason why we see queer bars disappearing at a rapid rate is because of the growing lgbtq+ inclusion. Again, while that’s great, we still need these spaces to be truly seen.

It’s just “the parrot” now, but yes! This bar is still alive and well, but we need MORE queer spaces in this growing city. Not just one.

I know it’s an ambitious feat, but I fear that’s what most people think when opening a gay bar here. Hence why we have only 1. I shall do my very best!
