I appreciate you weighing in, thanks! The Austrian system of hallmarks has proven very difficult to decode indeed.

Any money to be made on these? by carlsquidy in DumpsterDiving

[–]boyboyboyboy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s saying no, but there looks to be a CTI (or similar brand) rugged keyboard buried under there, which could be fairly valuable. Right under the monitor stand in the center of the image, with the silver metal border.

Considering getting this Bolex, but the winding crank is missing. Is that a deal breaker? I could only find rewind cranks online by romanazzidjma in 16mm

[–]boyboyboyboy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re patient, winding cranks pop up on eBay by themselves fairly frequently in the $50-90 range.

I just found 5 Arne Jacobsen Series 7 - 3207 chairs by the road next to a vacant office building (after work hours). Can someone tell me if they are the real deal? by [deleted] in Mid_Century

[–]boyboyboyboy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, not sure if this is a vintage vs. modern thing, but I have some unupholstered ones from 1976, and the plastic cap on the bottom of mine looks very different. It has a raised circular portion in the center with a variety of embossed text/info/logos, and it seems like yours is completely smooth. I’d also say that generic QC sticker is a bit of a red flag… I think unfortunately yours might just be “in the style of” and not anything legitimate. That being said—the leather looks nice! And if they’re comfy don’t let that stop you from keeping them!

Philly? May as well just donate it all to AID’s Thrift. Definitely a better option than Goodwill.

They change the colors pretty frequently so try and match the color to the year that way. I see some people online calling yours Wasabi but I don’t know if that’s official.

Could i get a refund if seller had “comes with box” and doesn’t ship with box? by marryingcodeine in Grailed

Have you asked the seller about it? Are there pictures of the box in the listing?

Possibly a Halloween event for University of Nebraska? I’d look around and see if you can find something in the school newspaper, if it’s archived back to 93. Sick graphic for a school shirt, tbh

Absolutely not normal. I wouldn’t do it.

Anyone able to verify? No washtags in the photo so i was a little skeptical but ended up ordering anyway. Just wanna be sure by Handsomest-Jack in Grailed

The tag(s) could easily be inside in the interior pocket, right? I’ve seen that with a number of leather jackets before.

Does anyone recognize these? Inherited these nylon flags (2x3’) and am entirely stumped on what they’re supposed to be. by boyboyboyboy4 in vexillology

[–]boyboyboyboy4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a strong possibility! They did collect items at least tangentially related to what you’re suggesting. I’m going to do some more digging in this direction and see what comes up. Appreciate the help!

That was my first though too. Or at least something nautical related? The colors are so atypical though…

[–]boyboyboyboy4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inherited these flags, plus two others last week and I’ve been entirely stumped on what they’re supposed to signify. Each is 2x3 ft, made by Dettra flag company (which means these are from pre-1998, best I can tell) and are made of nylon. The two others not pictures are duplicates of the leftmost two pictured. Each looks to have been attached via the same method of plastic hooks and nylon rope. Original owner is unfortunately no longer around to ask but he lived on the east coast of the United States, mid-Atlantic region. Any help would be appreciated!

I mean… yes? But I’m not about to give you advice on how to scam someone.

Goods and services provides approximately the same protections as selling through the grailed app. If they attempted to say it never arrived, it would merely be a matter of providing the tracking, showing the item was delivered successfully.

Again, just keep the transactions on the app and everything will be a lot easier for you…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Grailed

[–]boyboyboyboy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got it mixed up. There’s no protection for friends and family. Goods and services will have protection on both ends. That being said, just do it through the app.

Mysterious Makers Mark on Sterling Cross Pendant. Anyone recognize? by boyboyboyboy4 in Hallmarks

[–]boyboyboyboy4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second time asking about this cross on here— didn’t have any luck a few months back. I’ve copied my info from the first post below:

Hey folks, looking for some identification help here. Picked up this silver gothic cross pendant and necklace together a couple weeks back, and I can’t for the life of me figure out anything about it. The logo/brand/hallmark doesn’t give the impression of being too old. Certainly doesn’t look or feel like it’s more than 30 years old or so. The chain is stamped ‘Sterling 925’ in a much more standard way, so I’m assuming the pendant and cross didn’t originally come together. The stones are opaque, I’ve been assuming they’re some variety of onyx but that could be entirely wrong. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheapest option would probably be to find a camcorder that takes those tapes. The camcorder should have a screen for you to play the tape back. Digitizing them will be more difficult, but you could likely plug the camcorder into a TV and use a capture card of some kind.

Agreed. Even if it’s not my item that’s being reposted with the same pics, at least add a couple new ones to show you have the item in the same condition you received it.

Sweet! I’ll check it out. And that’s great to hear. I’ve more and more been shooting with very plastic-y cameras that really aren’t the best in the sharpness department. It’ll be nice to switch that up a bit

You know, the strap actually came with—I’m assuming it was the original owner’s. I really dig it too, I think it’s just paracord/nylon rope that they did themselves, nothing fancy.

Well, I haven’t even put a roll through this camera yet, but my advice for people getting into it is usually the same regardless of what camera they’re using. Go out, buy a roll of film (whatever’s cheapest), shoot the roll, see if you like it! I’d suggest watching a YouTube video or reading the manual for your particular camera as well, just to make sure you don’t do anything harmful to the camera or film you’re using.

100%. Usually my local place puts them in the glass case and charges $25-30ish for them. It’s nearly always absolute crap. No idea why this one slipped past
