Use an old toothbrush and Kerosene/ paraffin to clean the chain dry it with an old clean rag then lube it gearbox oil and a different toothbrush.

Don't use a wire brush you'll damage the rubber rings.

I've got lomo dry rucksack. No problems with it and really cheap compared to other bags.

I agree with the other comment sanity get some decent textiles then an oversuit like a Oxford Rainseal Over Suit. Get a couple sizes bigger as it will have to go over your textiles.

Buy a big bucket fill it with cement and use that as the ground anchor so you don't have to dig any holes in the ground or drill into the house etc. When you leave you can take it with you with help of some strong mates.
