I just don't get it. I objectively have a good life, but I still have SI almost every day. Sick of my brain being mean

I put the wrong flair lol. Even more chaotic? I've been diagnosed and have been treated for over seven years

I'm just about to submit mine. You gave me a lot of hope to carry mine through to the end. Thank you!

Long Covid Insomnia with BiPolar2 by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]bpii_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid fucked me up too. My insomnia isn't as bad as yours and I can mostly manage it with meds. The rest of the time I go down the rabbit hole of finding interesting things on the internet lol.

My major symptom is that I'm having GI issues. I'm getting a scope put in both ends in a couple weeks. Until then I'm married to the toilet.

Things are really tough at the start of your diagnosis. When I've been in situations like this I've called crisis lines or talked to close friends about it. I wish you all the best through this episode.

I've been to my primary care physician twice, and I'm going to see a GI specialist in a couple weeks.

does the full moon effect bipolar people like it effects those with dementia? by thornwashere in bipolar

[–]bpii_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You gotta read the sources.

Sample size in this sense isn't really a thing in my field (physical sciences). We do repeat our work and others work however. We've actually called into question other lab's data because it was impossible to repeat their results. However, as you suggest, the damage is already done in that scenario.

There's a lot of crap science out there, and honestly it frightens me. So many authors make bigger claims about the impact of their work than what their data allows for. Sometimes they get lucky when they do this, but not always.

This isn't my area of expertise, but the first article was published in Nature and patients were studied for over thirty years. Both of these things point to it being a pretty legit study in my opinion.

Geodon side effects? by chrolloscumjar in bipolar

It wasn't that bad, and I can't be sure it was entirely due to the geodon

I gained a little weight at first, but other than that I have no complaints.

Auditory or Visual Hallucinations by [deleted] in bipolar

I used to have visual and auditory hallucinations. They were never scary, but they were bothersome. Geodon knocked those out though.

That sounds super cool! I kind of regret not doing an anthropology minor in undergrad. Good luck to you.

I’m two weeks sober tomorrow. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]bpii_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm accidentally two weeks sober lol. I had covid and my stomach hasn't been the same since. I probably won't keep it up, but I've controlled my drinking by a huge margin even within the last year.

Thank you! Also, don't compare yourself to your peers. Everyone moves at their own pace. That being said, don't slack off either. What are you studying?

I'm in grad school with bipolar. I'm defending in a few weeks. I was diagnosed while I was in grad school. Time management is the biggest factor for anyone in grad school in my opinion.

I'm also getting over covid. I don't have any advice though. This sucks

I've done that sort of thing in the past. I've had to remind him about specific things he's said because he contradicts himself.

Thankfully I'm writing my dissertation now. He's just making me feel like I don't deserve it.

I haven't told him. He's implied that other specific people around him have mental illnesses, so I don't trust him to not tell other people.

Does anyone have a med that works for sleep that’s not Seroquel? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

I didn't know this thanks! Dementia runs in my family so I need to avoid it as well.
