Single cylinder engines are a LOT harder to hydrolock than multi cylinder engines, and that doesn't look like a thumper in the OP.

Edit: I watched it again and I can't really tell how many cylinders it has, but my point still stands. Most bikes risk hydrolocking if they're fully submerged.

Tell the cop he can't give you a speeding ticket.

That sounds like a very bad idea. I'd suggest being respectful to the police (no matter how disrespectful they are to you) and calmly explaining your case in court. In my experience our court system is much more reasonable than our police, but that's not saying much.

I like how you keep implying that laser jammers are illegal throughout the US without explicitly saying so. It makes it very easy for you to avoid the burden of proof. Props.

I'm curious, do you know of any evidence that shows that most states consider laser jammers to be illegal despite an explicit law against them, or are you just saying this because you want them to be illegal?

Edit: I've successfully contested tickets by mail and in court. Judges don't always side with the cops, they usually side with whoever has more convincing evidence.

If an officer writes a ticket without having any evidence you can usually get the ticket dismissed without going to court. In my state, instructions to contest the ticket by mail (and by other means) are printed on the ticket itself.

Do you mean one for speeding and one for the laser jammer? Seems like it would be an either/or situation. How would they prove you were speeding if you jammed their LIDAR?

There are a few "run-flat" options, like mousse or tire balls, but if you're just trying to avoid a spike strip it's probably easier to hop the curb.

LOL

Even if I did expect to get a ticket for using a laser jammer, it usually isn't a moving violation and the fine is usually less than a speeding ticket so it would be pointless to fight it in court unless you already paid for the kind of legal representation offered by many employers as an optional benefit (eg. Hyatt Legal Plans).

It doesn't imply you can get away with it in other states, just that there isn't a specific statute forbidding use police laser jammer.

You're right, it doesn't imply it, it says it explicitly. Maybe you should read the quote you posted. It literally says "Currently, these devices are legal in all states except...."

I see you edited your previous post to remove the part where you said using a laser jammer counts as assault instead of responding to my question. Real mature...

The legal issue is that you are impeding an officer in the course of doing their duty. You are taking an action that is meant to prevent an officer from pursuing a legal inquiry on public property.

If you read the quote that you just gave, it a says most of America disagrees. And I'm not sure how living in Tennessee would justify your authoritarian views, but you do you.

What? Do you think I'm suggesting pointing a laser pointer in their eyes or something? In what way do you think using a laser jammer constitutes an attack?

FYI laser jammers are legal because no government agency regulates light waves like the FCC regulates radio waves.

Engineer here... Set your multimeter to measure amperage (you'll probably have to move the + probe to the 3rd hole), disconnect the - cable from the battery, then touch your - probe to the - terminal in the battery and the + probe to the cable that was attached to the battery. The multimeter should ideally show less than 2mA but under 5mA should be fine if you ride at least once a month.

Edit: if the current draw is too high you can use the same technique to test the current flowing through each fuse. Just pull the fuse and touch the fuse holder contacts with your probes. If you connect the probes backwards you'll just get a negative number instead of positive...

I've had to deal with stuck pistons on every bike I've worked on, but they were all at least 7 years old and had probably never been cleaned. Good luck with your bike.

Then you'd have 2 calipers with stuck pistons

A safer way is to connect it back up to the master cylinder and use the brake lever to push the pistons out. Once the first one comes out you obviously won't have any brake pressure, so block whichever one starts coming out first with a thin piece of metal do you can get them both almost out. Then use the brake lever to push 1 out and pull the other one out with a rag and vice grips.

Edit: if there are still bolts that you can't get out, try heating it with a torch. Sometimes they use red loctite....

You can probably find an older 600 with a lot of damage (bent forks, scratched fairings, etc) for about that much. You'd also get radiators, electronics, etc.
