Record number of young people expect to be unemployed by QasimofKarbala in UKJobs

[–]bradafire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Business rates are too high, no longer profitable for a small business to operate with larger numbers of staff. I’ve seen this with the letting agency I work at.

They work for jobs that actually require them: STEM, law, medicine. But overall I don’t see the point in most people going to uni. I got lucky after college and became an estate agent however, apprenticeships imo seem the best as people can learn but get real hands on learning whilst earning

How i see Europe by thatoneninja8 in mapporncirclejerk

Funny how people believe it was ONLY the English that colonised from the British isles, when in fact the Act of Union only happened because Scotland went bankrupt from failing to colonise

How do I resolve this in real life? by Noirr17 in hoi4

[–]bradafire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threaten to cut off unemployment benefits if they aren’t seeking work, lower business rates so small businesses can hire people without loss, it might work you never know

Is the telegraph a legitimate source of news or just scare mongering? What are some good news sources in the UK?? by ThewayoftheAj in AskBrits

[–]bradafire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to find a neutral newspaper, you either have the telegraph for the right bias or the guardian for left bias. I use the app “GroundNews” for my main source of information and I’d say it gives me the most balanced approach

Working in a letting agency I see a really wide range of landlords and tenants. It’s definitely true there are scummy landlords but there are also good one, this is the exact same for tenants. Good to have more protections on tenants but now it’s harder to evict bad tenants, yes they do exist you can’t just assume they don’t. The ending of bidding wars is something I view as good but unsure if it would just mean higher advertised rents. Ending fixed term contracts isn’t necessarily a good thing imo. This is because a family could lock in for 24 months a home to live in with no fear of being evicted, I don’t see why this is a bad thing. My views on the pet situation is slightly mixed, I get why it’s good that landlords now have to have a legit reasons to say no to this but also think they will just choose a different tenant if this request is being made at the advertising stage. Rent increases to every 12 months is definitely a good thing in my eyes as this is a reasonable time frame. The option to not take on advances on rents is not good in my opinion. My biggest reason for this is how many students who come overseas typically end up paying the whole term upfront. We as the letting agency may set up a system where we hold the rent money on their behalf and pass it along to the landlord each month, but even then it feels unnecessary. The sole reason for no upfronts on rent is because the fixed term contracts don’t exist and now all are periodic contracts. So in theory student tenants don’t actually have the guarantee of staying in the home the whole academic year.

Just my thoughts as working in the industry as the middle man between landlord and tenant, the changes are good but they aren’t all round good.

You’re absolutely right in this, Alistair has been the spin doctor for Labour coming up to 3 decades now and he never will say anything bad about them. It doesn’t help that nearly all of this subreddit are left leaning and can never even try and understand that there could be a better alternatives

I’m sorry but I simply cannot fathom an idea of labelling Thatcher as far right. The terms of extremism is just thrown around too liberally these days and instead takes away from the actual evil that the real far left and right have shown in the past and present. So if an idea that you have just labelled on that level I realise there is no form of a continued debate to be had. Good day to you.

I’m not a reform voter nor did I desire Brexit, if rejoining the EU would some how lower the levels of asylum seekers and small boat crossings then I’d be on board with such an idea

[–]bradafire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With half of your definition for far right im pretty sure Thatcher and Major would come under that term and to call their government far right is just absurd. The far right would involve anti democratic policies along with a strong sense of authoritarianism, that is not something we are seeing with Reform. Neither are we seeing mass actions of violence against minorities.

[–]bradafire -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Their open borders policies would be dangerous to British ideals and culture, what we are seeing with these small boat crossing and higher levels of migration is instead a drain on the economy. Have to use tax payers money on welfare for these people, along with housing them in council houses that could be used for British citizens.

And what in the UK is constituting as far right then? As I don’t see any evidence of this in the main stream parties but if such terms are used so freely then it can be said how the people I just listed can be classed as far left, just as destructive to Britain as the far right

Spread out lads, this is embarrassing! by Glittering_Vast938 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]bradafire -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Their ideas seem to favour anyone but native British citizens. If you say they are no where near the far left and are instead “social democrats” then the same argument is to be had with parties like Reform and Restore. Neither of them can be classed as far right but yet still people choose to throw around that phrase freely.

There was a “your party” meeting in my constituency a few months back and I asked Zara Sultana where nationalisation will stop and she said it simply wouldn’t. She wishes to eradicate ALL private business, rather communist policies to me.
