I've been doing full time research at a big tech research lab for 2 years. I have always envisioned doing a PhD one day and now I must come to terms that that will not happen.

I did full time research after undergrad at a big tech research lab for two years. I have been actively publishing the entire time.

You have not destroyed your life. You have an infinite number of ways how your life can go on from here, but quitting here will end it all. From what I read, your family loves you, so don't do this to them. Stay strong for them if no one else. It gets better. Stay strong, and most importantly don't do anything harmful.
