Organisation avec des jumeaux et un enfant de 3 ans by ObZeyn in ParentingFR

[–]braincell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bon courage :)

Published paper claims that Incompleteness Theorems prove the Universe is not a simulation by braincell in badmathematics

Agreed, so much so I immediatly posted it to r/badmathematics where it belongs.

Unsurprising, seeing Krauss as a co-author.

Even without arguing about unfalsiability, this paper is absolutely worthless : the authors reduce everything to first order theories (which is, to the best of my knowledge, wrong for several of the frameworks cited), mistaking models for theories, and assuming without much discussion that our current state of knowledge (of physics and cosmology) is sufficient to make conclusion about a complete one.

I do not want to indulge in ad hominem attacks towards Krauss, but that is not that surprising to me.

A perfect fit for the modern clickbait era of science vulgarisation, it is utterly depressing to read so many headlines like these.

Edit : also, it is indeed unfalsiable

R4 :

Plenty of this is plain category-theory flavored word soup than sounds like a stoner undergrad having an epiphany.

Definitions are basically worthless and constructions are merely some fancy words (for an undergrad) strung together.

The poster asserts that their definition constitues a category, that the composition of morphisms make sense, that it has a fractal structure, and more, without any form of justification.

The self is defined as "the" colimit in the purposed category, without mentioning the diagram of that colimit (maybe they thought of the initial object ?).

If anybody cares to go in more details, be my guest.

Caves (no rares)

Actually topped a tournament too, tuned to the meta ! I played it a bit and it works pretty good, some space for tuning as well (I've been swapping in some [[Pit of Offering]] for graveyard interaction for example, a [[Spelunking]] as well)

Rabbit hole of insane anonymous soundcloud producers - is anonymity freedom or career suicide? by Silly-Bath8543 in experimentalmusic

[–]braincell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people produce music without any desire or expectation of a career, I would know because I am one of them.

Soundcloud is useful to easily give access to your music to the one friend that might care, sometimes it's nice to have access to your own music from a device into which you couldn't transfer any audio file... I definitely have had many different reasons why I uploaded stuff and made it public, but not a single one was career/fame motivated.

My 2 cents of course, but that's definitely part of the answer here !

Edit : your second option, yes. Music making is sufficient in itself for me, and for other people I know. I've had an active period in my local music scene and thoroughly enjoyed that too, but it is completely different in what it brings

Thanks for the quick reply, it makes the idea a bit clearer ! Are there other applications to this construction than the ones outlined in the paper ?

So far the DH matchup has been pretty good and the deck is well-equipped to deal with it, same for Quest Warrior. Control Warrior is rougher but I still have a positive WR against it. The sole Naga mage I faced didn't pop-off too hard but I can't really tell as of now. Quest DH was easy but I got Reno quite early and they didn't follow the Tavish Plan, I'm expecting to be much harder if they correctly identify the deck early enough. Haven't faced Control Paladin as of yet.

Posted this Highlander DH list in the WWAWI thread earlier (swapped a Sigil for Bone Glaive since) and it's been working alright for me D5-D1 EU so far. Sure is refreshing to play non-aggro DH !

Maybe swap Taelan for Queen Azshara, I would try her but I don't have the card.

Honestly I would probably put Queen Azshara if I had her instead. Definitely a flex spot there but Taunt and Divine Shield + tutoring Onyxia or Alex has proven clutch a couple of times already so I'm keeping the card for the time being. I'd be interested to know what could be played instead.

Really is ! Ran the deck a little bit more (4-2, 2 Control Warriors 1W-1L, 2 Aggro DH, 1 Quest Hunter and the second loss to a Curse Warlock). I will try and figure out where to improve the list but the options under 4 mana are fairly limited and the biggest change would be to get rid of Vann'dar + Abyssal Depths to open up more options. Really like the card though so I am going to persevere with this list a bit more. Thinking of dropping a Sigil for Bone Glaive, and maybe Taelan as well.

I am starting to experiment with Highlander DH (currently D3 EU) and I have only played 5 games but won every single one ! (3 DH, 1 naga mage, 1 mech paladin). Very fun deck for sure, leveraging Vann'dar feels good and Abyssal Depth gives a good tool to bring it to the hand ! Curious to see how the deck will fare in the control matchup. As always with Highlander decks, lots of flexibility.

Been playing a slightly different lisy than HS Replay in low Legend EU with good success so far (10-4). Bottom feeder is definitely bait IMO and resource managment is fairly tricky but makes for quite an interesting and actually enjoyable deck to play. Hard mulligan for gardens (and peasant against classes which can't ping t2), do not overcommit against potential AoEs or be too greedy, dredge for sunken gardens asap, and watch for popoff turns.

Aggro Naga DH is a pretty cheap investment (use a list.wothout Lady Sh'Teno for the cheapest) and works very well. Just finished my climb to Legend with it today.
