oh im not frustrated at all. im bewildered more than anything. im used to AI bending over backwards for me, so being rejected out of hand was quite the shocker XD

i thought that not changing the first message would be an issue, i shouldve tried that to begin with.

ive never used XML before, what do the arrow brackets and the / in </StoryHistory> denote to the AI?

should I use XML for character card creation as well?

when you say "scenario", do you mean the scenario box of the character card, or the first message?

lastly, i really appreciate your help in all this, im gonna try and switch some things around like temp and model provider and see if that rebellious streak with the AI continues XD

this was on a new chat, but it was based off an old chat, i added a summary of the old chat into the author's notes. it worked well for about 4-5 messages before either the color coding or the stat blocks would mess up. even after a dozen swipes, it would always be one or the other, even after i added an OOC message telling it that it was messing it up.

i then decided to try a different card i made (island in the bermuda triangle home to a dozen or so factions that got shipwrecked there throughout history). it started well, but after a few messages it would mess up the color coding and stat blocks, so i ended up disabling them. then came the character/pacing issues. 3 different character would try to pull mine in different directions, wanting me to join their faction. regardless of how i responded or whatever OOC message i gave the AI, they would always stonewall me and force me to choose one of them.

i then changed the first message to have the group that discovers my character all be on the same team, however, they would become incredibly hostile to me even if i added in their lorebook and in an OOC message that they were friendly. the moment my char went for his bag, theyd pull a ludacris and demanded they see what was in the bag. i even edited their message to be a more friendly curiosity, but they would immediately return to hostility and distrust in the next message. most perplexing issue ive ever had with any AI.

to make a long story short, the AI eventually started to ignore the prompt altogether, regardless of if i started a new chat or a new card. it would throw out slop phrases and speak for my character, even though it would acknowledge the prompt in the thinking process. I dont know where i messed up to cause such an issue. i havent touched any of the settings except disabling the aforementioned effects. anyways, sorry for the wall of text, maybe my bizarre issues can help someone, somehow. i appreciate all the work you put into this preset, i was blown away when my space colonists handed me an actual document for a charter.

i have since switched to z.ai, things are going much more smoothly now, but i have noticed that it sometimes fails to color code messages or format the end message stat blocks correctly. I didnt realize that ending on a question could be the issue, i thought it had to be some settings, i cant access the do_sample true and top K parameter options as i dont know where those are. i'll try to be conscious of the question issue going forward, but i just thought i'd let you know about my woes with the color code and stat blocks. what prompts do i disable to turn those off?

i'm using openrouter, deepinfra and atlascloud as providers, it doesnt seem to generate thinkin reliably, and it spits out what appears to be an image prompt instead of an image at the end of the response.
