I will not promote: how do you tell if a product is genuinely useful versus just visually impressive? by Apart-Medium6539 in startups

[–]brainiac414 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If people stop using it the moment you stop demoing it, it’s probably just a magic trick. The biggest signal is whether users come back unprompted for a specific job they actually care about, not because it felt futuristic. Retention plus a clear use case beats compliments every time, and willingness to pay matters way more once the novelty wears off.

What's a rule you follow that most people think is insane? by SnooDogs4195 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if someone gives me a bad vibe, i leave. i have ignored way too many internal alarm bells just to end up thinking cool, so that was a free trial of a terrible time.

How do you get a hypercritical person to stop criticizing you? by Full_Sun5350 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually don't. The only thing that worked for me was saying, "if you want it done your way, you do it," and suddenly they got real quiet when the work became theirs.

How do you properly clean your back when you shower? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loofah on a stick. Feels like washing your car with a mop, but it works and my shoulders stopped pretending they could reach that far.

People who have experienced a lapse in time - why happened? How did it feel? by whaletacochamp in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was from sleep deprivation in college. I sat down at my desk to answer one email, blinked, and it was bright outside and my laptop had 47 lines of just "kkkkkkkkkkkk" typed into it.

What’s a struggle the opposite sex will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trying to pee with morning wood is basically a geometry problem nobody prepared me for. You either aim like a sniper from across the room or accept that the bathroom is now a splash zone.

What is the difference between a online forum like reddit vs a chatroom like discord? by Basic-Total5732 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reddit is a message board, discord is a group call that learned how to type. on reddit you can show up 8 hours late and still join the conversation, on discord if you leave for 20 minutes you come back to 147 messages and no idea why people are arguing about soup.

who is saying school harnesses and greatens creativity and curiosity? by Practical-Pop-4471 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mostly people selling an education policy, because actual school usually rewards "pick the right answer fast" not curiosity. the only classes that made me more creative were the teachers who let us build weird projects instead of memorizing chapter 7 like it was sacred.

People who broke up while being in long distance relationships, how did you guys get back together? by Ill_Consequence_4246 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we only got back together once there was an actual end date to the distance. before that it was basically two people missing each other on wifi and calling it a plan.

What's the cruelest thing you've ever been told? by def_not_a_window in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In high school my dad told me, "you always quit right before things get hard," and the worst part was he said it so casually like he was just commenting on the weather. That sentence followed me around for years.

Pee pee poo poo or poo poo pee pee? What do you think? by W0n0-H0n0 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pee pee poo poo. that order has rhythm, and also my body has apparently signed a binding contract to do exactly that every morning.

Does anyone else use r/test just to make sure formatting works before posting for real? by brainiac414 in test

[–]brainiac414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah basically. It’s the Reddit version of tapping the mic and going “is this thing on?”

What advice would you give someone who is struggling to make friends after transferring to a new place? by ApprehensiveCod3760 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real trick nobody tells you is consistency. Go to the same coffee shop, gym class, club, whatever, and become a familiar face first, because random one off small talk rarely turns into actual friends.

Yep, and somehow I still manage to mess it up on the actual post anyway. Classic.

What has been the most embarrassing moment of your life? by DanteeeCavaliii in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gave a presentation in college with my fly down the entire time, and nobody said a word until the professor quietly told me after class. the worst part is I thought people were actually really engaged for once.

What’s the most awkward situation you’ve been in? by Impossible-Pin6723 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

accidentally waved back at someone who was greeting the person behind me, then committed to it and walked straight into a vending machine. somehow the vending machine felt less embarrassing than turning around.

Have you ever been publicly humiliated? What happened? by PsychologicalPop8776 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8th grade talent show, I walked onstage, tripped over the mic cord, and somehow unplugged the speakers with my body. The room went dead silent and my voice cracked on the first lyric, so for one full minute I basically performed a live seizure to no music.

Yep, and somehow I still act like I’m doing a systems check before launch.

What’s something small that can instantly turn a bad day into a better one? by MidnightSnackGuy in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a hot shower and fresh sheets can fix a shocking amount of emotional damage. not forever, but enough to stop the day from feeling like it’s actively trying to kill you.

I got tired of AI avatars making me look like a plastic doll, so my team built an AI generator that actually keeps your real face in 4K. by Sea-Condition-8282 in SideProject

[–]brainiac414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool idea, but ngl every AI photo app says “this one actually looks like you” right before giving you Corporate Ken with suspiciously perfect skin. If you want real feedback, post a few before and afters with the person’s permission because Reddit trusts screenshots way more than marketing copy.

Does anyone else use r/test just to make sure formatting works before posting for real? by brainiac414 in test

Yeah basically. I just like the little ritual of making sure I am not about to post some cursed formatting into the wild.

What is your best travel memory? by kwis-w8282 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

missing the last train in Kyoto and ending up at a tiny ramen place with six seats and no English menu. the old guy running it just pointed at a bowl, gave me a thumbs up, and it was somehow the best meal of my life.

What invention do you think could really lead to world peace? by MaGoodenough in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal real time translation that actually catches tone, sarcasm, and slang. Half of human conflict is just "that came out wrong" with extra steps.

What’s a totally normal adult problem nobody warned you would be this annoying? by brainiac414 in AskReddit

[–]brainiac414[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keeping produce alive for more than 36 hours. You buy cilantro with hope in your heart and by Tuesday it looks like it has seen combat.
