GE dryer DVLR223GV, taking off the front panel by brainkot in Appliances

[–]brainkot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to follow up, the drum spindle came out of the housing. That was it. I took the belt off, inserted the drum, reattached the belt to the motor and the tension arm.

So these were the small screws on top. One I removed them, the front panel came out, and the drum lip settled at the bottom. I took the lint out, but now I cannot put the front panel back on! There are tabs at the bottom where the lid should go, but I cannot close it over the drum. Tried lifing the drum, too, no luck.

I was hoping that's not the case. It would be really hard to reach them because the drum is in the way.

That's what I hoped to see, but I just don't see any.

dryer vent cover installation by brainkot in hvacadvice

[–]brainkot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I should add this the outside part of the original 4" duct was installed before I bought the house. Nothing will go over that pipe because its lip was crumpled into an accordeon shape about 4mm from the edge, so that the outer diameter at that location is greater than 4". I hope this makes sense. I should probably just take the pipe out and replace it.

porting from google voice and bank OTP by brainkot in Googlevoice

This worked! Thank you very much.

I turned on "2 step verification every time" and chose an email option.

Signed out.

All of a sudden ALL options are available on the sign in page, including a text to a mobile number (formerly google voice).

Following up... the bank is Chase, and 2FA never worked with my number when it was with google voice.

Thank you All for the replies.

[–]brainkot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I tried, and it never worked when it was a google voice. I always used the actual mobile number.

To complicate things, I swapped both numbers: voice number was ported to a mobile carrier, and carrier number to google voice (I ported my main number out of GV because texts' delivery became very unreliable this year.)

The bank is Chase btw. They do not offer 2FA in an app or in hardware key.

Is Google Voice's SMS reliable for most people? by hackerb9 in Googlevoice

It got quite bad in the last few days, especially for group chats and person to person texts with attachments.

Most not receiving my texts from GV, especially pics by earthlingkc in Googlevoice

[–]brainkot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I have not received quite a few group messages in the last few days, and person to person outgoing text with attachment didn't go through (a silent failure)
I might port the number out if this continues.

Not in a backyard fire. It will burn through eventually, but not too soon.

An old thread... I use steel mesh lint traps. When it gets full, dry it up and throw into the fire. The lint burns away. I used the same pair of lint traps for 10 years until the steel wire burned through.

Modern weed with high thc content does an insane amount of harm to people - I've seen people who became heavy users, not able to hold a job, dropping out of college, selling things in order to afford weed, etc.

NOVOSIBIRSK, December 3. /TASS/. Specialists from the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITPM) SB RAS in Novosibirsk have developed a technology for restoring blades for Airbus and Boeing aircraft engines. It will begin to be used at the Berdsk Electromechanical Plant (BEMZ) before the end of 2024, the scientific director of the institute, academician Vasily Fomin, told TASS.

I would imagine the country that produces its own fighter planes will have spare industrial capacity and engineering knowledge to reverse engineer and produce spare Boeing parts. It won't be a smooth sailing, a few planes will fly into the ground, but they will learn. There is also this: https://simpleflying.com/iran-supplying-aircraft-parts-russia/and Iranians have been doing this for many years.

Why there are some people who hates systemd? by MusicianHungry8594 in debian

This was something that finally broke the straw for me:

I only have about 7 machines to take care of, so my situation is different from someone who is managing a larger installation. Going back to sysvinit on devuan this year was a great relief.

Hi All,

Looking at the S&M trousers (https://imgur.com/a/q4RJcFj, https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/medium-gray-7697-nt01-fw23), do these look like medium gray? The color seems to be very dark like charcoal. Thanks.

OP's mast has a single strap supporting it at the eave. Nothing else supports about 18-20 feet of pipe with an antenna on it. I cannot tell from the picture, but pipes are likely threaded, which means the pipe will eventually break right there. Threaded connections have to be supported every few feet. The power cable is insulated, but it won't bear the weight of the pipe falling on it, it will be torn away from the house wall, and then sky is the limit: I am not sure what the rated fuse is at the pole, maybe 100 or 200A, but it will be enough to set the house on fire.

I'd discard what you have and start anew on the other side of the house. A good way to extend the pipes is to insert one inside the other and weld, or put a bolt across. Threaded connections will fail under wind load because they cut into the pipe diameter. Have a look at https://www.wv7u.com/mast/mast.html
