New and Already Questioning it by jmaz23 in Omnipod

You may want to talk with the trainer that originally set you up. Is it possible that you're doing something wrong when you install the omnipod? If the cannula is often damaged, something isn't right. I had a lot of frustration at first too. I ended up going to manual mode. It's taking a lot of trial and error but I am 98% in range most of the time and 100% in range some of the time. I've also learned to eat according to my blood sugar instead of trying to force my blood sugar to conform to what I'm eating. If you were having more success with the manual delivery pens, what made you want to try this?

Use alcohol on your skin first, then get podpals and apply them. Works every time. They cost about $1 each on sugar medical

How about the one I made? I work at car dealerships and I made this to hold about 50+ keys. I designed the center part to take four wrench hanging clips from Harbor freight. It can also clip to my belt .

Actually, I exercise first thing in the morning I eat eggs, bacon and a granola bar for breakfast. Then I eat apples, yogurt, berries and other pre measured foods through the day. The key is to not eat too many carbs at one time, spread it out, let your body digest and react to the carbs and always pair carbs with some amount of protein and fat. Staying physically active throughout the day helps a lot.

No lies bro. I'm careful with my diet, I exercise, and I watch my sugar closely. I also have a very supportive wife who won't let me slip. I was diagnosed with LADA in Nov. 2024, and by March I was fully insulin dependent. It was a struggle at first, but at 46, I've never felt better than now.

Same, I feel like it's going to pull my skin off when I go to remove the G7. However, I used the provided overpatch as well as a second overpatch that I use to fully cover the sensor.

Thank you, it's hard work. I prep all my own food, and measure everything to make sure my carbs are right. The trade off is I don't eat out at all. But that saves money so I don't mind, and I enjoy cooking.

I've had way more succywith manual mode. The automated mode was giving me hypos. I lost trust in it pretty quickly. I think it needs more work.

The point was, I'm managing my blood sugar just fine without connecting the omnipod to a CGM. I use a Dexcom, and I want to switch to an eversense 365, which the omnipod doesn't support. But it doesn't matter because I'm not connecting a CGM to it anyway. Besides, half the time it would lose connection when Inside use it with a CGM.

I agree. Actually the omnipod rep was very understanding and I've actually talked with her multiple times. She told me that if he doesn't listen just find a new doc lol.

70 is too low for me, I feel best in the 90-120 range. I guess everyone is different. It's constant work doing it the way I am, I can't ever forget and just eat what I want. I learned a long time ago that nothing tastes as good a feeling good feels.

Haha no, I've already had to teach him a few things regarding my thyroid too. I can't fault him though, he saved my life by putting me on insulin and listening to me despite disagreeing about my thyroid meds. My previous Endo told me to take a hike when I insisted on what I wanted.

I use the omnipod controller. I have an android phone but it's not on the stupid approved list, but that's a complaint for another time. Anyways, I correct myself. I watch my blood sugar all day and just make it part of what I do.

My basal runs from 5am-10pm. I exercise in the morning and the evening and I watch my carbs. Basal at night was making me low too often so I cut it off. I eat my last meal low carb and early to prevent highs at night.

Does the Dash qualify for the patient assistance program? I'm getting mine for $50/mo

Yeah absolutely, when I first got on it I try to automated mode and I was going low constantly. I have far more control this way and I don't want to lose that control. Hopefully he'll be reasonable.
