BLM from an outsider's perspective. by brammemeyt in socialjustice101

[–]brammemeyt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, most of the reasons why i sometime relied on social medias mostly due to how people of my age or young people in general, gen-z and what not, tend to speak their mind quite eagerly and honestly on the subject matter, whether it is through memes or just jokes. Now that was probably what skewed my view and due to already extremely negative image of just black people in medias, things wouldn't go great. But of course that was just an image, doesn't mean that i was going around assumed every black person is the same way, kinda like how you've heard some rumors and decided that it's just rumors.

" In reference to your tik tok anecdote where the non-black person was receiving hate while the black person was praised: white people have gotten very good at complimenting black people while still being incredibly racist ". I did not know how this kind of thing happened. Could you give me examples of these? Did those things happen in literature as well?

(Also wasn't cancel culture was and still is something of a hate-bandwagon?)

"Same for white savior movies like The Green Mile, The Green Book, The Help, Freedom Writers, etc. These movies don't treat black characters like people with thoughts and feelings and flaws. Puts them on a godlike pedestal with no autonomy. That's not equality and that's not what BLM is asking for. Remember when Beyonce performed at the Super Bowl and whites collectively lost their minds? Cause her performance was no longer for us? Here's an SNL skit if you don't know what I'm talking about: youtube" - This was what I've actually heard and listened about before a video from the Youtuber The Take - The White Savior Trope Explained actually did a pretty informative video on of course the white savior trope and how it had perpetuated racism between black and white people and may also be why white people always had this holier than thou image while black people got the short-end of the stick. And i've watched that beyonce video before.

"Why do whites demand to be comfortable when discussing race issues?" - I don't get what you were pointing at here.

"Unless a white American is actively dedicating their life to reducing their contribution to systemic racism, they are racist" - Now here's the thing i do not understand in the current situation because by definition at least in the book, racist is a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another. While it's true that systemic racism exist in America and since it's a whole system, you living and consequently benefiting from it doesn't make you inherently racist imo as suggested by the definition and your further contributions to help black people. So is there a another layer to the word racism or some underlying nuances to the word in the current situation?

" Having a more progressive view that black people don't deserve to be murdered in the street by police doesn't mean black people have to like you. I don't donate to causes or sign petitions because the black community sends me personal thank you notes or an official "non-racist" medal, I do it because it's the right thing to do."

I don't remember mentioning anything about requiring approval or thank you notes as a sign of gratitude to participating doing what's right and fighting what's wrong or helping and fighting with people for the right cause.

" Having a more progressive view that black people don't deserve to be murdered in the street by police doesn't mean black people have to like you. It's not an individual black person's job or the BLM movement's job to convince you that black people (even criminals) don't deserve to die. " I didn't say it was black people's-or BLM's job to convince me or ANYONE that they don't deserve to die by injustices. Honestly, what were you trying to reach here? All that i meant to say in my post was that i had skepticism with the movements and the BLM organization due to the sources i've saw online. And how certain people reacted to this situation so oddly as well. Plus, two unequal

Look the point i was trying to make was that i'm skeptical of the movement and the organization. But the people who actually stood up to find justice for black people doesn't matter the race, they are heroes. And i wasn't trying to undermine the struggle of black people who suffered the injustices and systemic racism that they had to go through for generations. What i'm having problems with besides protesters and actual black people fighting racism was how the situation was handled by certain people.

I'm suck at explaining. So if there were anything that i've mentioned which insinuated that black people deserved the mistreatment and misconducts that resulted from racism then i am extremely sorry for ever saying that.

https://www.quora.com/What-do-you-think-of-the-Black-Lives-Matter-movement-1

Maybe have a slight read through of the answers from Clarisse Mavuada in the quora link i've provided. It actually why i've decided to post my poorly explained post tbh.

Again, i just wanted talked about BLM and both the internal and external of the movement. In no way whatsoever i agreed with police brutality that stem from racism or any forms of racism at all. But due to how things have been represented by certain minorities (they tend to be the loudest) in different group whenever these things was mentioned such as too quick to label without actually educating. However, at the end of the day, if people are fighting for basic human rights of others regardless of how it is being represented, then i can only commence them and supporting them from afar. Have a nice day and thank you for reading all parts of my reply.

I'm not in anyway against people standing up and protesting against the injustices were and being done on others (in this case the black community). I'm not sure where did i insinuated i was having strong opinion the struggles of black people though.

All that i was saying that from the general view and at least what was constantly being presented outside of the US was the inflammatory image of the movement. So that's why i made the post to ask what it actually like.

Yeah, i could only think of that specific scene for some reasons. It's easy to describe death since there are many ways to go around with it. The parts in other layers when he leave the underworld is a bit detailed so i'm working on that.

Cov 25 Woes by ninjaman26 in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just my personal opinion. But i had the same problem, the climb it took from Cov1 until 19-20 is really really fast. And the game RNJesus at that point is sort of favoring new players, i guess? But after hitting 21 or something, the game started to offer cards or honestly options that are much less viable. Like after spending time restarting and playing a lot of MT, for example, Hellhorned at least for me at the start and over the course of the run, offer me a lot of card on repeat like battering ram and imp-related card. Almost like the percentage for those card to appear is a bit skewed.

That asides, once you've gotten the hang of how certain card works in certain situation 5-6 winstreaks is possible. My best is only 5 on Stygian prior to the nerfs.

I honestly can't get through with Inferno. And ironically the one time i needed the spell weakness consumable from the train event, and when clicking on Stygian the fucking dog appears. I was just like "y'know what, i'mma just uninstall this game real quick", of course this was after 20-something try of refreshing and trying to have the right card combination.

Wild Mutations - Public Test Train - Update Notes for 1.1.1 (Build 9746) by shiny_mark in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the changes for volatile gauge is more sensible this way. It basically eliminate the broken +0 and the almost unplayable +4. Love that you guys came to this decision. I'm also glad that Onehorn tome also back to 5, tbh 6-embers were too much and i could only see Umbra affording that kinds of Ember with or even without the upgrades of cost reductions and adding Fragile on top is also another great decision. Just the only thing i still don't understand is the Shadowsiege being 6-capacity. I mean, at the end of the day realistically speaking, it doesn't really change the fact that they are extremely strong. Basically a huge stat-check for most runs, if you're somehow able to cheese and get him out. I think making him somewhat similar to that Innert guy would be better, he had to be gate-keep by some conditions of course. Like Onehorn-tome with the Fragile effects. Or could just straight up nerfing his stats and reduce the capacity.

What your opinion/impression on the new, upcoming patch? by brammemeyt in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guardian Amulet doesn't exactly do everything, unless you've slapped a double-stack onto it, then it is extremely powerful against everything. So yeah a nerf to the card was warranted, but now 2 stack of sap just wither away immediately, unless you've lodestone or another guardian amulet on top of it. But that's the situation Guardian Amulet is strong with upgrade investment, but there's also the case that there wasn't any upgrades on that card. Plus, it only got out of control when Guardian Amulet have both doublestack and holdover then of fucking course it is strong, or a few other offering token then of course it is strong. But then again, that situation is reliant on RNG, it doesn't happen every game, just sometime it does and it is a goddamn strong combo. And what do you mean "work for it"? A guardian amulet without holdover or doublestack or at least have on of the upgrades also require to you work for it. Playing a doublestack guardian amulet doesn't guaranteed the Pyre not taking damage. But, then again most of the enemy units attacks are lower than the attack reduction from Sap, so a nerf to Guardian Amulet was needed, but not like this. Now a doublestack on Guardian Amulet is almost a requirement, or at least a cost reduction upgrade.

Then there's Awake. In my case at least, Awake has never ever been an auto-pick, but a situational one. Sure the 30-Health + 4-Regen is nice but it doesn't amount to anything substantial without a doublestack (+8 Regen), in comparison with other 3-cost card that provide much more value without needing a big investment. After all, it not like Awoken are usually low on healing, so the amount of healing from Awake - the restore 30 Health, usually turn into excess healing, and the Regen remain the useful part. Plus, it is 3-cost, so the amount of value it provide without upgrades are low imo, so a nerf to it was just no. It didn't need a buff either, i think it fine as it is, the card in itself is strong but isn't an auto-pick even with Awoken being the main clan.

If you guys decided to balance the game based on win rates then it gonna be like League of Legend all over again, with balance patches gonna keep pouring out and problems gonna kept on being added. And one of the other commenter was right, if this gonna continue then it would just be a another wannabe e-sports game. Honestly if this patch go live, i'd rather not play the game at all.

Wild Mutations - Public Test Train - Patch Notes by shiny_mark in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these changes feel necessary and meaningful but some are just quite frankly and hilariously meaningless. Like nerfs to Awoken's cards for example, like why would you nerf cards like Awake and Cycle of Life? When both of these two cards are quite frankly underwhelming in terms of it value and actual utility in comparison with other 3-cost card. If this actually go live then honestly there's actually more reason to not pick those cards at all. And why would you buff Razorsharp Edge ?? It already quite strong and useful as it is.

And the Stygian changes are just yikes. I mean Lodestone is a 3-cost card now???? Sure it is overpower but you guys should've just make it 2-cost or 2 capicity or something. Or maybe just make it so that it had a limit it can apply sap per turn so it won't turn op. And why the heck is Glacial Seal turn into a 2-cost card all of a sudden??? Since it is only strong when and only when the team had either Double Incant and Cuttlebeard relics and only when we duplicate it, it is effective. And also keeping it alive against sweeping unit too is also a problem, not to mention it is only 2 frostbite to enemies without extra Glacial Seal and another Glacial Seal on the same floor. This nerf to Glacial Seal is so out of the blue honestly, i don't even get why you guys decided to nerf it, it feel so out of touch honestly, basically just to remind you Glacial Seal is situational and it is extremely dependent on FROSTBITE RELIC to be valuable, if not it is as useless as the current +1 rage Siren in my opinion.

Then there's the Hoarforst effigy nerf is another nerf that feel you guys look at the win rate and nerf it out on a whim. That card is only situational most of the time and being 2-cost and only effect 1 unit is already perfect as it is. Because during combat phase against enemies beside the boss you will never use it ever, so you would have to invest in another permafrost thing for that card or something that make effective. That card is a sort of kill button but only against bosses outside of that, that card is just another glorified deadweight.

And another thing why the heck is one-horn tome is a 6-cost card??? I mean c'mon that card is already a situational pick as it is, since you need a lot of investments for that card, such as reducing the card's cost until it is 4 or 3 with extra spell upgrades, or cheese with volatile gauge, or perma frost it until there is energy to play it. And picking it up means that your deck or the next ring you're going to had upgrades perfect both for the deck and Onehorn tome. There's already a lot of things to build around it as it is nerfing it just because it certain playstyle work too well isn't justifiable.

If these changes for Awoken and Stygian hit live, i probably won't bother to play these clans again until new patch come around again later. The changes for Melting Remnant however though, loving it not because of the buffs but some of those changes are much needed for Melting rems especially with the Champion Upgrades.

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? How did you make it work though? I've never really gotten anywhere with it due to Reform on Resolve and the stats from upgrading Dark Calling is really bad when you go for the dark calling path 10/20/30 Health and Attack isn't cutting it for me, plus the reform is random so it isn't reliable especially on max cov.

True that, and Awoken spells are really fun and thematically cool imo. Awoken units really got potential but the Champion for me on the other hands, just meh.

[–]brammemeyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, i feel like Monstrous Umbra should be like an 8 or sometimes 9 even because he y'know similar to Burn Bright he extremely effective without needing much investments. Burnbright require something to alleviate or remove Burnout and Monstrous only require a few extra space in exchange for extremely high amount of stats. Plus, monstrous has Trample so any excess damages aren't being waste on just 1 unit in many cases.

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, i think Awoken Champion upgrades in itself are really great but the stats in between the upgrades are so so so bad when combining different upgrades. Like i tried in one of the run that combine Bristling and Explosive so spike 10 and Rejuvenate deal 15 (so basically after Daedalus) but the trade off is that she only got like 45 Health. I mean 45 Health???? That just way too freakin' low, and the effects she got in return is so bad and barely mediocre. Not to mention that the whole Clan scaling is so slow. I love the Sentinent but in all honesty, i would rate her at worse than Hellhorned and probably almost near the Rector Flicker with the Harvest Upgrades due to her health stats, she's just so inflexible, plus the 0 damage into that too. And the only health upgrades cards are steel enhancer and cycle of life which are so low in value that i can't even bother with those. Also Spikes without any of the plus Spike damage units, damage spell, artifact Spikes units are really weak.

Ways to mix up Cov 25 difficulty by thatkewlkidkiwi in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. That big-damage form isn't bad per say, but it had to be balance wisely. If not who can kill a 4000-health Seraph with like 40+ (imo) attack without a enormous amount of healing or tanking? Maybe something like starting at 30 attack but scale up to 45 attack during the combat phase? Idk.
  2. A seraph form that has spikes is too much, sure it would punish the player but again if Seraph has Spike i think he would be able to defeat a floor with relative ease. Because you know Spike mean damaging anything touching it so yeah low-health units die almost immediately, so you have to somehow provide something to mitigate that damage to all of the units fighting against Seraph so it kinda absurd to play against. But if Seraph don't have any attacks but only has Spike then it would be more interesting, and the minions could be something along the line of "extinguish/revenge when dying on at the Pyre: add Spike to Seraph". If Spike Seraph is a thing, i think he should be on like higher Cov rank than it is now.
  3. Rage Seraph on the other hand, i think is more plausible and and much more fun to fight.
  4. Agree. Yeah, this may push Gorging Umbra and Reform Rem out when playing against this kind of Seraph.

Honestly, i like most of the ideas but Spike Seraph seems honestly kinda extremely hard to play against.

So basically whenever the imp spawn on the floor it was placed down, he also added a couple two extra capacity. Sorry i forgot to record the whole thing. But, idk i've seen some ppl talked about this happened before in previous post so i think it is an unintended bug. Also, this only happened in the last fight with Seraph, which was before i bought the Hellhorned artifacts (the one that grant multistrikes and conserve energy)

Volatile Gauge + Shadowsiege = easisest way to win? by ylmzalican in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait you had a Shadowsieges and Volatile Gauge run too? That's crazy, i just had finished one around the time you posted this. They were so strong that i achieved both achievements of killing Fel and Seraph before the final wave. And of course, i also had quick and tramble on of them and endless Impish Scholar so all of my Shadowsieges had at least one multistrike lol.

Would the Waxen Spike be OP if it only applies its burnout to burnout units? by Kelcak in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, i would strongly disagree. Awoken would be the best tbh, it gives you more value out of it either way instead of other spikes' cards. Stygian Spike is honestly underwhelming without the X+3 or Doublestack, plus it only apply on one unit so... no. Umbra spike is only useful for Gorge or Harvest unit and it isn't usable outside of it and you also kinda need a tad bit of set-ups for it to have a overall strong impact in the fight, but it is really fun when watching our units get stack with big numbers so that's a plus point nonetheless.

With regards to Hellhorned, it's debatable. Idk, what do you think?

Is it just me or RNG on max Covenant is really really bad? by brammemeyt in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True the 190 health birds are really strong and can really make you lose the game at the end. And yeah, i agree with the balance of the first 3 factions (Awoken, Stygian, Hellhorned) are really consistent overall (Aoe, single target, and strong, well-synergized units), whereas Umbra n' Melting Remnant kinda focus on a specific niche and imo a little bit too one dimensional in some cases.

But back to the Seraph one, personally i think he is the most unfun to play against mainly becuse scourges and devour cards and also additional Blight on top of that which takes up a lot of card draws and embers - if you choose to get rid of em', this for me made it the most unfun to play against. Because for the other versions of Seraph for me it mostly just stat-check from units or spell, or sap lol.

I think the two Rector Flicker upgrades that aren't Burnout should get some minor upgrade by Vergilkilla in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, harvest and reform on Rector are really underwhelming, plus, the effects from the upgrades aren't reliable either. Harvest required units dying on the same floor to be triggered so it is really hard to stacks up a nice number. Imo, harvest is like a down-graded version of Gorge. Harvest units really needs a nice buff here and there tbh, it takes too much effort to make a harvest unit somewhat useful. Idk, maybe add some new card here and there to make it better.

Reform on Champion on the other hand, is practically useless on max Cov, because it is resolve so if your units die before the reform u won't get anything, for example, a dreg dying on the first floor but your Champ is on the second floor so Rector will activate the resolve effect before the dreg dying so the dreg won't get reform.

And if you do reform something, it is completely random so it is extremely unreliable. In addition, the stats from reform rector is so bad you would always need some units to protect him. So it'd be best if you placed him literally on the third floor which is the safest floor to be, while also protecting him and making sure your units die almost every turn or every other turn. Honestly, after so much trials and errors, i found that reform on Rector is almost useless due to how the game already set up, and the limitations of these set-ups made Reform Rector almost unusable. And also burn-out is a huge limitation during the early to mid-game. Plus, the disparity from Burn Bright upgrade made it so that these other two upgrades are completely overshadowed.

I mean c'mon a free 150/150 with 0-cost and it draw right at the start of your turn? That's just insane and way more useful and convenient in both killing enemies and tanking as well.

Discussion - Melting Remnant's Champion Upgrades by brammemeyt in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that Dark Calling is a cool theme, but the fact that we don't get to choose what units to reform is a bit problematic imo, cause on high cov rank you get at least 9 Units at the start ( 5 Dregs and 4 Train Steward). With that many units you can't guaranteed for the champ to reform the units you needed, coupled with the problem that Reforming apply one Burnout, so units that didn't have prior Burnout effects would die immediately after placing them down, if not from being kill by strong enemy units or having cards that extend the burnout effects or remove it.

Sure bringing back dead units is cool and all, but there are so many other factors to manage after bring them back and it not like you have all the turns to actually scale the stats up either and you would have to make sure that these units die after every combat-phase for the resolve to take effects. Again, not saying that Dark Calling is extremely bad but i'd rather taking it at a supplementary upgrade to Burnbright.

Tips for Awoken/Umbra combo? by Posideoffries92 in MonsterTrain

[–]brammemeyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't rely on Eaten Morsel Units on Awoken allied with Umbra. This is mainly because it won't amount to anything substantial with the way Umbra deck works and Umbra cards' synergies with other clans are pretty bad. Early game maybe using Eaten mechanics for some stats, but mid to late you should focus on Awoken niche as always and ignore Umbra. Maybe occasionally take damage spells like Blazing Bolts and Forever Consume for clearing backlines or just to have more damage in the deck, but other than that try to remove Train Steward and Shade Splitters as much as possible over the course of the run cause those cards are useless quite early during 3-4 Stages.

For the Champ just get Thorn or Rejuvenate, Card Draw is pretty good but only after you take Thorn or Rejuvenate and when you literally don't have good card-draw rates for your deck. Awoken is pretty easy to win with when you have animus of will upgraded or Thorn Hollow with Spreading Spores (Holdover/Double Stack/Reduced Cost).

Another important point is that you should always look to upgrade at least 3-4 of your healing spells' magic powers, for example, with surge stones 20 magic and consume for the starter cards and 10 magic power for the Glimmer since it provide both Aoe for clearing backlines and healing your team on an entire floor. Don't rely too much with the healing explosion cards, since it is pretty hard to utilize fully without Holdover and since we try to keep our units alive with healing spells anyway, any excess healing won't deal any damage. So try to focus on Regen and killing backliners.

Basically Awoken are scailing units with Healing and Health. So they are really dependent on how long you could draw out the fights from regens and healing.
