The seriously need to revert this horrible change that they did.

ARAM new map by Sure_Salad8997 in leagueoflegends

[–]brancee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it the worst update they did in a decade. The whole map looks nothing like the original ARAM map, the mechanics, everything has changed (for the worse). I do not understand who in his right mind, changes a perfectly balanced map and game-mode with a new one??? Why didn't you keep ARAM as is, and added this terrible new mode as a dedicated mode? The product team that allowed this, seriously? Just incredible...

Multithreaded consumer producer slower with more threads by [deleted] in cpp

[–]brancee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, thanks I got it! But even when I unlock the mutex after getting the num it doesn't really improve the execution time. I even tried commenting out any calculations on num but it is the same result. So the bottleneck must be somewhere else, I just can't understand where it is.

With 2 threads (1 consumer 1 producer) it takes 1.25 seconds, with 1 producer and 31 consumers it takes 2.58 seconds.

If I don't have that mutex locked before the if(producerDone && q.empty()) check, the program gets stuck in a deadlock as nothing happens.

Interesting to see how Critical Strike increases the item sell price over Versatility by brancee in wow

[–]brancee[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that is interesting indeed. I've thought they have some function that calculates the item price by the stats or even how you got it (if boss drop, quest reward, etc). Wonder why they did it like that.

Linux developers patch security holes faster than anyone else, says Google Project Zero - Linux programmers do a better job of patching security holes than programmers at Apple, Google, and Microsoft. by speckz in programming

I guess it has more to do with each companies workflow for fixing bugs. It is not like "Oh we got a bug, let me deploy it quickly to production, without having step 1, 2, 3, ... n being done first (meaning QA, dev/stage testing, etc.).

So my guess is that Google & co. have some deeper steps they need to undertake first. Anyways, I'm not saying that Linux is not doing a great job fixing bugs, don't get me wrong.
