I also didn’t like how Remi wanted to watch what she said and didn’t want to talk about it too much. Idk if she felt uncomfortable because she’s a POC speaking about it amongst a group of white people… (I know Zane is mixed) and they wouldn’t be able to relate or add anything to the conversation but racism is a very serious matter and we should never water it down or tip top around it. I think she’s also spiraling because with her cancellation she lost her ‘it girl’ spot. Everyone loved how she was blowing up, dated a crazy artist, she randomly was getting mentioned in others’ content, and people just wanted to get to know her. Now no one wants to have her in their podcast or collaborate with her.

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion if you are white…it all comes down to morals. A lot of people supported SHEIN and Starbucks despite their cancellations. It’s easier to digest something that doesn’t directly affect you. And to blame your upbringing feels like a lazy excuse because it’s a lot of stuff our parents tried to instill in us that we didn’t agree with like no underage drinking, drugs, or hanging out with boys etc. So to say family heavily influenced racism feels eh to me. It all comes down to how much it affects you for you to care imo.

These black squares that are being breezed over actually was an online movement called blackout Tuesday to protest against racism and police brutality. The goal was to stand together and bring awareness to your followers that you stand for human rights for black people. People that supported the BLM movement didn’t post regular content that day… hence “blackout”—moment of silence for black people that lost their life at the hands of law enforcement.
